Anyone had diarrohea in pregnancy?

For the first 12 weeks, it was constipation, but now I've swung round to the opposite problem! Worried that I've picked up some horrible food bacteria and it might be bad for baby. I'm nearly 16 weeks.

I had it all throug hmy first trimester and still get it now and i am 15 weeks. i have mentioned it to my m but she seems to ignore me! but i had it through my first pregnancy and he is fine so just keep your fluid intake up. do you suffer from IBS? i know that pregnancy causes a lot of changes so that may be why.

how strange, i was going to start this thread!, i am 8 weeks with my 3rd, and i have had this for the last week, i remeber having it with DS2 as well, swinging btween bloating and constipation and then diarrohea. Not sure if it's 'normal' though...i put it down to hormones and my strange diet!

BabyFever · 17/04/2008 18:27

I'm 12.5 weeks and I've got it at the moment - I'm just putting it down to the hormones because I've only eaten the same as others and they are all fine. It doesn't quite feel like that sort of bug thing either.

Oh god.... I was hoping my sickness and upset tummy was a bug.
Anyone got it really early pregnancy?

beforesunrise · 17/04/2008 18:51

are we talking constant diarrohea? i had 2 nasty tummy bugs (one at 10 weeks, one at about 17 weeks... that's toddlers for you) which left me totally debilitated.

i have noticed that i go to the loo quite easily iyswim, and when i have to go i HAVE to go. buti think it can happen as everything gets more relaxed.

i'd rather have slightly looser stools than be constipated tbh!

having said that, def do mention to mw/gp. and perhaps take some probiotics supplements, that really helps restore bowels health.

Sometimes i think it might be baby sitting on my bowels or something
and giving me that weird pressure feeling that you need to poo.
Not sure if this is possible, but my digestive system has been feeling very weird recently. Loose bowels and lots of cramps when I go - maybe I should go to doctor since I've had it for about a week.

By the way, I'm 16 and a half weeks. For the first 12 weeks, I was pretty constipated.

I got rid of my morning sickness all but for the odd issue with eating too much and triggering it off, but last week I started throwing up every day again and thought 'damn this bloody MS!' but I now also have awful diarrhoea so I think I must have a stomach bug as well - I'm 20+4 and it's been going on for the whole of the last week. I don't mind it if it's not a bug, I'd prefer to have the shits for the whole pregnancy than think I'm ill and it could affect the baby.

fledtoscotland · 21/04/2008 16:27

i had it for most of my pregnancy with DS (on and off not continually) and now with #2 i am also getting it on and off. MW said it was due to hormonal changes. BTW you cant take immodium which is pants

TheApprentice · 21/04/2008 16:33

I never had constipation with my first and neither am I getting it this time (I am 23 weeks). Tends to go the other way with me, though wouldnt go so far as to call it diarrhoea (sorry if tmi!)

But I get the same the first 2 days of my period so am quite used to it!

Ceelo · 21/04/2008 20:00

Constipation is unknown to me but i have diarrohea a lot.

slim22 · 21/04/2008 21:52

Pretty much all of my 1st and this pg as well.

If you are "regular" and soft stool, fine, if it turns to water 3 times a day call your Dr and or cramping/nausea.

For me it's a combination of hormones, preg, vitamins and a very healthy diet with lots of fiber and water.
