Determining due date

Hi all, my GP estimated my expected due date by the first date of my last period. Is this now to be taken as my due date or when I go for my first scan will they give me a different due date? Thanks in advance

You'll be given a due date at your dating scan based on baby's measurements - that could be the same as the date based on your LMP but more likely it will be a few days either side depending on how baby is measuring. The date from your scan will then be used to determine when your midwife appointments and anomaly scan should take place. But it's only ever an estimate anyway!

Thanks very much. I'm a first time mom so feeling pretty clueless and overwhelmed

Hi All,

I was wondering if you could help me out. I'm currently awaiting a private scan and the midwife appointment. I'm 5 weeks pregnant today according to my Flo app and that would mean a due date of Jan 2nd however, the NHS app says due 5th December as the first day of my last period was 28th Feb - 4th March. I found out I was pregnant 22nd April. How far along am I actually? It's very confusing. I think Flo is more accurate as I can't be 10 weeks pregnant.

Thanks x

When you phone to book in with midwife etc they will date you from the 1st day of your last period so according to your dates you are 10 weeks pregnant.
This may change once you have your dating scan (normally around 12 weeks)

@Abbie3g why can't you be 10 weeks pregnant? Unless you have crazy long cycles you missed a period at the end of March. Not sure why your Flo app would say different?

Ah ignore me. I've clearly got brain fog and didn't log Marchs period. I deffo had one as I was on holiday so I am only five weeks
