Has anyone gone over with their 3rd baby? Could possibly give me some advice?

3rd baby first girl im now 40weeks plus 4 days with no signs of labour

My 1st son was 5 days before my due date, my 2nd son was bang on his due date we knew that was definitely the right due date as he was ivf.

This baby seems very happy staying in, her head has been all the way down for 2 weeks know this as we have had growth scans, she was 7lbs10oz approx Monday so I'm worried how big she is going to get.
Have really had enough now have very bad siatica and pelvic girdle pain and trying to run around after a 20month old all day isn't easy.

Any suggestions on how to get things going?
Also has anyone else had no symptoms and just gone into labour quickly?

Booked in for an induction on the 2nd of September but really hoping to avoid as I dont know how long I will be in hospital for and really need to be home for my boys, especially my 20month old as he has a disability and cannot eat or drink so I tube feed him several times a day.
Many advice would be appreciated also if ive done this wrong very sorry first post for a while.

Have you had a sweep?

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 26/08/2024 07:48

Not 3rd baby only birthed one so far - but with that one I had zero labour signs beforehand. Thought I was going to be pregnant forever. Had a sweep at 40+5, started contracting that night, baby born 40+7

Dc 1 was bang on due date, DC 2 a week early. DC 3 appeared at 42 +2. I was very clear that I was not being induced unless there were solid medical reasons. No sweep or other interventions. I did have a home birth with independent midwives so I didn’t have to argue my case. DS was born in a 6 hour labour, the easiest of the three at a stonking 9lbs.

Notellinganyone · 26/08/2024 07:51

Just add - you don’t have to have induction on 2nd - you can just request regular monitoring.

Thanks all no I've not had a sweep yet my midwife told me at my 40 week appointment that they don't do sweeps untill 41 weeks now so she is coming to me Thursday if nothing has happened by then, just really hoping something happens before then x

Get your oxytocin flowing, look at baby pics of your other kids, watch a cheesy film with some nice foods, cuddles with your partner...and maybe a bit of the other if you can!

First DD was 10 days late in the days they let you go 10 days .. DD2 was a nearly a week but they didn't want to leave her as she was small for dates - I had acupuncture and that did the trick as I didn't want to be induced as wanted home birth . It happened quite quickly after acupuncture but it was someone who had a lot of experience of pregnancy so felt totally safe .

I was 4 days over with my 3rd baby she the only one who came on her own had to be induced for medical reasons with first to but I found day before she came I couldn’t sit down I was gardening cleaning very busy xx

Peonies12 · 26/08/2024 13:27

Due dates calculation has very little scientific basis! In Kenya, gestation is 42 weeks. You don’t have to have an induction just for being past your due date. You could try some yoga videos on YouTube and or walking? Swimming worked for me to!

I went 16 days over with my third 😫 after the previous two being four days over. Had not a single sign nor twinge until it got going proper. I was told it was a big baby but he came out 7lbs 10. Good luck and hope you aren't kept waiting too long

MargaritaPracticallyCan · 26/08/2024 13:33

I went 13 days overdue with both DCs, 18 and 20 years ago. No signs of labour with either, inductions at 40+12. First DC was nearly 9lb, second DC, a water birth, was nearly 10lb.
I guess my body just didn't want to go into labour naturally, sweeps didn't work either and both times my waters needed breaking. Both delivered safely, a few stitches, all was well.

Happiestwhen · 26/08/2024 13:39

Yep , with my third in 2021 I was induced at 14 days over. I don't think they let you go more than 7 days over now though. Bless you , it's tough going. I had a toddler too. Hang on in there, it will all be over soon and you will have your newborn in your arms 🥰
