Period-y Feeling @ 37 Weeks

Woke up this morning feeling really "period-y". Am 37 weeks with 2nd baby and "down-there" feels really really heavy, like during a period, and achy. It's really hard lifting my legs to put trousers on, etc.
Anything to worry about, do you think? Kind of hope it might be a sign that things are going to happen, but I suppose it's still too early. I'll probably still be here at 42 weeks!

Things could be happening

slim22 · 17/04/2008 09:42

Same here at 36 weeks. I get lower back pain as during painful period. Hopefully means things are getting going.
Not to worry at this stage. Plenty of rest does help feel "lighter".

JODIEhavingababy · 17/04/2008 09:43

I really hope things are happening! but it could just be baby snuggling down for some engagement! I wouldn't thhink it's anything to worry seriously about, just keep an eye on it! fingers crossed xxx

37 weeks is regarded as Full-term! Could be the start of something. If so then I am really jealous (am 35 weeks and hoping I don't go longer than 37 or 38 ...)

I know how you feel. I'm 27 weeks with no 2 and getting very impatient! (not that I want him to come now, just time to hurry up!)

EmmaKateLouise · 17/04/2008 09:50

Plenty of Rest, Slim22?!?! I wish! With a 3 year old monster-girl, a dog, a cat, 2 guinea pigs, a pony (and another horse arriving next week), working 3+ days a week and a 5 bed farm house to run, I don't get much rest! Oh, and am out line dancing tonight!! Might have to give some dances a miss and just watch instead! Although I am off away for the weekend tomorrow, so might get a few minutes peace then!
Yes, I was thinking it might be engagement although they say that doesn't happen with No.2 until labour! Am a bit worried I might not get my weekend away now!!

Gosh EMMAKATELOUISE you know how to keep busy!!!

I too have heard about 2nd babies not engaging until labour, but I think that is only a 'don't worry if yours hasn't engaged yet' story... Some do, some don't! I thnk you'll still have your weekend, just take all your hospital bits with you!

gegs73 · 17/04/2008 09:54

Sounds like the baby is coming . I remember this with DS2 and the next day he was there!

sparkleymummy · 17/04/2008 09:56

This is exactly how I felt in early labour. DS1 arrived 5 hours later!

EmmaKateLouise · 17/04/2008 10:02

Ok ok! You guys are freaking me out now!! Was in labour 3 DAYS with DD1 so am not holding out for much in 5 hours time but am still a bit worried! Am sat here in an empty office at work, on my own, with my MIL at home, 25 miles away, looking after DD1 and my own mum an hour and a half away, and my OH 3 hours away on a business trip!!
Will be back on to get more advice if it escalates into anything more!!

Golly! you ARE busy. No better way to bring it on!

Take it easy !

sparkleymummy · 17/04/2008 10:25

I would just ring to put everyone on a low level alert. With both of my pregnancies DH adopted the military DEFCON system. As we approached DEFCON 1 (threat of imminent enemy engagement) he was forced to operate closer to home!

DonDons · 17/04/2008 10:33

Had this from 36 weeks too........... baby still refusing to budge at 40+2.

horseshoe · 17/04/2008 10:48

I am 36+ weeks now and have been getting this feeling for about 2 weeks now.

Soph73 · 17/04/2008 11:13

I´m 37+6 today and have been feeling periody on and off for about a month now & still no sign. However, I´m sure it´s different for everyone so am keeping my fingers crossed for you as it could be your turn However, will be REALLY jealous if you have yours first Good luck.

looneytune · 17/04/2008 12:51

I'm 30+3 and just started getting this and was going to ask on here. My baby is breach at the moment so don't think it's anything to do with getting engaged or anything. Hopefully things are getting ready for you though, obviously I don't want them to for me yet!

mellyonion · 17/04/2008 13:19

i had this with all 3 of my kids....it came right at the end of my pg....apparently, it was my cervix starting to thin and dilate....not massively, but sort of starting of things.....babies all arrived within about 3 or 4 days of this happening, although all were late....5 days, 9 days and 14 days over......

good luck....try and find time in your busy schedule to pop your baby out!!!
