Early pregnancy cramping

Can someone please shed a light on how much cramping is "normal" in early pregnancy please?

I'm probably about 5 weeks but feel real period pain type cramps in my lower back.

It's making me nervous!
Anybody else experienced this?

TIA

Yes you'll find it's quite normal at this stage x

Absolutely normal, I was so crampy up until 2nd trimester - it's baby bedding in ❤️

Peonies12 · 23/08/2024 13:43

i had period like cramps all through first trimester, and then less frequent since then. If it helps, when I had a MC, I had no cramps at all. Unless pain is a lot / very one sided, I wouldn’t worry.

I had this probably until around week 8 or 9. My midwife said as long as the pains aren't one sided or excruciating, and as long as there is no bleeding, it's normal x

Honestly period like cramping very normal, I'd only be concerned if was accompanied with red bleeding (which can also be normal).

I had it at 6 weeks with my son
Very intense and any time I thought I felt something coming out, I went to check if it was blood, it was clear
It lasted a day
I remember thinking this can't be normal for someone who is pregnant

He's now 10

Guys it's really bad!! I've had heat pads and hot water bottles on my back all day and I've taken pain killers and it's still so painful.

More my lower back than my stomach, but I have my period pains in my lower back anyway.

I get sporadic pain in my lower stomach it comes and goes but the back pain has been so intense and it's lasted hours. It's so intense it's making me feel sick

Was anyone else's super intense like this?

For me weeks 5-7 cramping was my main symptom. Really intense around where my uterus is and my thighs, which is where I feel period pain (I’ve never had backache as a period pain symptoms). Some nights I’d wake up uncomfortable and the only thing that would soothe it was a hot bath. I was secretly thankful the weather’s been dreadful, because a hot bath and heated blanket were my lifesavers. Its eased off significantly now at nine weeks (and my eight week private scan showed that the baby had a good heartbeat and was in the right place).

I've been having these, too, for about two weeks, so about weeks 4-6. It got so bad I was taking paracetamol every few hours. I went to GP because the pains were waking me up in the night who referred me to EPU to rule out ectopic. I didn't have any bleeding. They tested with a speculum and cervix was closed, did some bloods and hcg was fine, and did a scan which showed little one in the right place and heartbeat. They've eased off now. 😊 EPU staff said that if there's no bleeding, it's likely just bedding in but it really did feel like I was day 2 of very heavy period! Happened even when I laid in bed all day, no rhyme or reason.

Don't suffer in silence, see a GP or 111 if you're worried - even if you think you're being silly, get it checked out. It doesn't do any harm and the worry is much less when you know what you're dealing with. ❤️

Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼

So sorry to hear that! Was the cramping all the time or off and on? X
