Just wondering what everyone’s labour symptoms were? I am currently 34 weeks and 1 day with baby 4 and was informed by my midwife yesterday that she thinks I am going into labour! Sounds crazy because I’m baby number 4 but I do have an 11 year gap 😅
Baby 1 - Boy, born at 37 weeks exactly. I was taken into hospital at 36 weeks and 5 days due to being generally unwell and in a lot of pain. I was 2cm dilated and kept in for 2 days. We later found out that I was unwell due to being positive for Group B Strep (GBS) and this was also the cause for early labour. After 2 days they then tried to send me home but after a quick cervical check realised I was now 3cm So decided to keep me. I went from 3cm to 7.5cm within 30 mins and baby was born that night after 6 hours in labour.
Baby 2 - Another Boy, born at 38 weeks 5 days. Had no symptoms at all, got up to go to bed and my waters popped then gushed and 40 mins later baby was born at home. Unplanned home birth, no pain relief as no midwife or paramedics reached me in time. Still had to attend hospital due to GBS risk but Baby was thankfully negative for GBS and we got discharged the next day.
Baby 3 - Another Boy, born at 40 weeks and 4 days. I actually had a sweep at 11am. Had my first contraction at 10pm and baby was born 2 hours later at home again, another unplanned home birth as we don’t live close to hospital so wouldn’t have made it there. No signs of labour at all until that very first contraction which was instantly strong. Contractions did not slowly build as you would expect. Paramedics made it to me on time but I only had pain relief for the pushing stage. Had to go to hospital due to GBS risk but thankfully baby was negative and we got discharged the next day.
current baby - another boy, currently 34 weeks and 1 day. Over the last two weeks I have been feeling very uncomfortable like I have something stuck between my legs, can’t sleep at night due to hip pain and horrendous heart burn. Also had 2 bouts of contractions that were 3 mins apart lasting for around 1 minute each. These lasted for around an hour both times before tailing off. I have been opening my bowels a lot more, I have had a massive increase in Discharge although no show as of yet and definitely do not have any infection etc going which could cause it. Struggling to currently stand or walk at the minute. Soon as I stand I get a sharp pinching feeling in my private area and the minute I try and walk this increases and I start getting contractions. Also getting a lot of pressure in my bum and private area, to the point I’ve actually said to my husband that baby feels like he’s going to fall out!
met with my midwife yesterday who said it sounds like I may be going into labour already and I really need to listen to my body as I am GBS positve again! and need antibiotics in labour! really worried as I am at least an hour away from the hospital and with my past fast labours there is a good chance I wont make it to hospital again and baby could catch the GBS like my first born did! currently i am booked for induction at 38 weeks due to GBS and fast labours and baby is also measuring way to big! but midwife now thinks i wont make it to induction and he will be born sooner! if i get the regular contractions again before induction i have to go straight to hospital to be monitored!
did anyone else have any of this in the lead up to labour?
