Had my 28 week appointment with a midwife yesterday (28+1). She measured my bump and has noted down that the SFH is 29cm. This plotted baby on the 95th percentile!!! I thought the measurements matched the week of your pregnancy so that’s only a cm out?!!

My little girl was only 6lb 12 when she was born and now i’m terrified this baby is going to be HUGE!!!
im only short (5ft 2ish) and this is my second baby so assumed i’d have a bigger bump this time round! i’m also a little heavier in general than before i had my first but nothing major!! Please help me feel better and put my mind at ease or do i need to prepare to give birth to a giant!!!😱

The fundal height isn't measuring baby's weight. Your 28 week measurement is just a starting point for monitoring how baby's growth is increasing. When the fundal height is plotted it's assumed baby's growth is anywhere between 10th and 90th centile ie 'normal' even if the plot is above the 90th centile. Any concerns and you'll be referred for a growth scan which would plot baby's estimated weight and is more accurate.

Fundal height is rounded up or down to the nearest cm so may only be just above 28.5cm. Is a measurement that gives midwives a general idea of whether a baby is growing steadily or suddenly putting on weight or not growing. Scans much more accurate. Don’t worry.

You are measuring pretty much perfect then!
