TTC low morphology

Hi, me and my partner having been trying to convince for a year now with no luck. About 3 months ago we got his sperm results back and showed he has low morphology of 0.5% he’s due to have another SA in just over a week. I’m just wondering if anyone has any success stories for naturally conceiving. We can’t afford to go private so all wait is on the nhs which is a bit disheartening as we don’t know how long or if will ever get our baby. He’s cut out a long of things as his lifestyle prior was terrible. He was a smoker which he has cut out, he’s changed his diet and is going to the gym and has lost a good amount of weight. He’s still been drinking however. He’s been taking lots of supplements coq10, macar root, omega 3, vitamin c, zinc and vitamin d. So nervous for his second results, I’ve just ordered a fertility cup as I’ve seen a few success stories on there, fingers crossed it will help

Hiya my partner had 1% morphology and I have stage 4 endometriosis. I had laparoscopy surgery in May and conceived the month after, however my partner had been taking Proxeed plus sachets (nothing else) for approx 4 months beforehand (he also drinks a fair amount of alcohol!) so I do think this helped alongside my surgery.

this is literally my husband! We conceived natrually 7 years ago and when our son turned 2 we decided to try again, 4 years in still nothing. We got ourselves checked and I was fine. He however had 0.5% morphology. After lots of research we took all the supplements you have listed (take the purer form of coq10 called ubiquinone by pharma nord, more clinical trials for male sperm) and ate better. He still drank alcohol and would binge with his mates once a month. He did another test 3 months later and it went up but still subfertile at 1.3%. We made sure he took every supplement everyday and he tried to reduce his binge drinking with friends but the test he did 3 months after that was only up by 1.6%. It was good to see improvement but not great.
we saw a functional medicine dr and she said he has to stop binge drinking, the alcohol literally kills sperm. Sperm has a 3 month cycle, each new sperm has taken 3 months to be made. He didn’t binge drink for 3 months only had the odd pint here and there and we did another sperm test 3 months after the last one and it was 6%!!! That’s 2% above normal range.
I believe drinking more than 3-4 pints or alcoholic drink in 3 hours or more is the worst thing for sperm after the first results we saw. Read about what binge drinking is.
we still didn’t get pregnant naturally (we are 36, not sure if just a little older now so takes longer anyway) but we did ivf and I’m 8 weeks pregnant and he had lots of great sperm.

it’s hard to live so clean for months on end, no alcohol not to much sugar, it’s bloody hard. It’s so worth it though, what we put into our bodies has to be clean whole foods no drugs, alcohol cigarettes. Get him to try it and see, I have everything crossed for you xxxx

Forgot to add. My husband got into non alcoholic drinks like blue becks etc and we would enjoy a cbd drink on a Friday night with a film. The brand is called “good rays” and you can get them in the big supermarkets or Waitrose. They give you that chilled out feeling a glass of wine does but without all the cell/dna damage xxx

Wow that does give me so much hope! So many things are controversial about all of it I find myself non stop googling things I already have before. This is what I’ve said to him just give it a go together for 3 months no alcohol and just see, 3 months out of your life is nothing and if it shows improvement at then least we know! Will see what his results are for the one next week and then hopefully in another 3 months we can get another one after making strict changes. Thank you🙂 congratulation on your pregnancy! I can’t imagine what you must of been through for that long

We struggled to conceive and this is one of the things that came back from fertility tests.
We had both cut down on alcohol but got to the point where we were ready to try IVF and decided for the 3 months before to make even more drastic changes to our diets and both completely gave up alcohol. I ended up conceiving naturally before we started IVF.
It may just have been a coincidence however I do think alcohol has more of an effect than people realise.
Wishing you all the luck as I know how difficult the TTC journey is

Ahhh great I really hope the next results are good and have everything crossed for some good news. Yeah the worst part of ttc for 4 years is the constant sex hahaha argh having sex all the time starts to get so draining and not fun! 😂

Wow these are amazing results, congratulations on your pregnancy! You've both clearly put in a lot of effort. Can I ask if you also cut out caffeine during TTC? If you have any other dietary or lifestyle tips, including supplements or tests that you found helpful as I'd love to hear more. You've worked hard to achieve your pregnancy and you deserve this happy news.

Bobbilennard · 19/08/2024 12:14

Don’t🤣 I’ve already had enough a year in! Sometimes I want to let go and be like well if it happens it happens and just have sex whenever but then I’m like I know there is a slim chance anyway so I don’t want to actively be missing that because then I’ll blame myself!

Hey yeah so we cut out caffeine and would only have the odd decafe coffee. He would take good quality supplements; ubiquinone 200mg a day, high dha/epa fish oil, Vit c, high Vit d 3000iu, selenium & zinc & a zita west fertility vitamin. We both also did an elimination diet for 3 weeks to reset the hormones, body & gut, eliminating shellfish, beef, pork, processed foods, caffeine including decafe, sugar, dairy, eggs, alcohol, wheat, gluten & only ate whole foods. This was extreme but for only 3 weeks. We felt the best we ever felt afterwards & my husband believes this diet was a massive reason his sperm was so good. It’s a hard diet to stick to but we slowly reintroduced foods back in. We noticed how some of the foods made us feel more tiered or grumpy or unwell which was interesting.
my husbands job is really stressful so he worked on his stress too, lots of exercise, meditation, talking etc.
i did a genetic blood test to see what my genes could possible do to cause any issues with my health or baby’s health and this was great to help with my supplements. It was £160 called grow baby.
the dr we saw who helped us with everything was dr Caitlen Wiltshire at cura body I’ll add her website link. She’s absolutely amazing and is so knowledgeable about all things fertility & conception.
