Hi ladies. Just need some general opinions
im 13 weeks pregnant with twins
we are looking for a new flat to rent and need to secure one asap as already gave current landlord our notice
Today we viewed a flat we love and want to put an offer in
we asked the estate agent if the landlord minds families - she said she would prefer no children as would like to keep the flat upstairs she also rents out happy with noise etc (It is an old Victoria style house so I’m sure there isn’t much noise going from each flat)
estate agent basically said of course she won’t kick you out if you fall pregnant in the flat
so the moving date will be beginning of October when I’ll be 20 weeks and for sure I won’t be able to hide it with twins haha
I wouldn’t want to start the tenancy contract on a lie? Should I mention I’m pregnant and there will be children very soon in the flat?
we want to stay there for 2 years or more
we really prefer to be on good terms with our landlord so her seeing us move in at 20 weeks fully pregnant she may be shocked

also bare in mind our annual salaries combined is very good.. more then 4 times the rent yearly which im sure she’ll be over the moon about
and she will be able to see we are long committed tenants as we’ve been in current flat 5 year and flat before 3 years

I cannot understand why on earth you would tell the landlord. That is bizarre. No I would not share this unnecessary information with the LL.

I agree. I could not think of a reason why you would tell a landlord. Don't.

I wouldn't mention it. It has nothing to do with the landlord!

It's interesting to see that a complete volte-face has occurred on this thread!

@Solo So would you be honest and tell them in the offer email?

@Kt1704 Yes I would. I wouldn't risk not telling the agent. If the agent decides not to tell the landlord then that's up to them, but you should be honest.
Also, people often rent a 2 bed property not because they are planning on starting a family, but because they work from home.
I live in a 1950s semi detached house and can hear my neighbours and their crying child all the time. Drives me insane of an evening.

@Solo Yes true. Well I mentioned to the agent at the viewing that we will plan a family soon, and in the offer email I have sent I wrote ‘no children currently’. So I haven’t exactly said I’m pregnant but I think it is clear there is a plan there. Let’s see!
