RocketLolly1 · 16/08/2024 14:35

Hey @Kiwi23 urgh oh no, glad you're feeling better now. What have you been dealing with?

Do you have kids already or is this your first?

Kiwi23 · 16/08/2024 15:41

Yer I have three 11-9-7 year old girls iv had terrible sickness pains in my back I was on anxiety meds before getting roughage had to come off them as they were making me ill so had terrible withdrawal but started some new ones this week and they seem to be helping. And to told out off had covid last month. I do keep getting waves of sickness but nothing like before so I’m greatful for that just hoping it’s abit easier to end now been my worst pregnancy I’m very glad it’s my last one x

RocketLolly1 · 16/08/2024 19:06

Urgh yeah it does sound like a bumpy ride, glad the new meds seem to be helping. I had COVID too at 30wks, it was grim. So tiring!

Are your other kids excited about the baby? My son has just turned 3, he likes telling people he has a baby sister in mummy's tummy, but I think the reality might be a big adjustment for him.

Yes I am 37+5 today and wondering if I’ll have a baby in 2 days or 4 weeks!😂

RocketLolly1 · 16/08/2024 20:14

Ohhh I'm 37+5 as well!

I have a sweep booked next Friday at my midwife appointment, but my fist sweep with my son did nothing (2nd sweep I was already having contractions 🤷🏼). Do you think you'll have a sweep soon, @Lalarosex ?

Is this your 1st baby? Or do you have DC already?

OP posts:
Kiwi23 · 17/08/2024 06:59

Yes there super excited my eldest was like that when I had my second she use to lay with her and once she started moveing around they were best friends so I’m sure your son will be so happy to have someone to play with.

Lalarosex · 17/08/2024 09:29

@RocketLolly1 due date twins! This is my first baby, my midwife says she will give me a sweep at my 40 week appointment if I make it there! I have a feeling I will go over 40 weeks! Have you had any contractions yet and what week did they begin with your son?

RocketLolly1 · 17/08/2024 10:38

@Lalarosex oh haha I went to 41+5 with my son. Contractions started 41+4, it took 24hrs for things to really get going. I tried everything, hot curry, walking etc, but I think they just come when they're ready. I won't be surprised if I go over this time as well. I've just been having lots of Braxton hicks at the moment.

How are you feeling about giving birth?

LECMN · 17/08/2024 14:46

👋Hi everyone,
I'm 39 weeks today and as my firstborn is 5.5yo I've completely forgotten what it felt like with her! Been fighting extreme nausea, heartburn, lower back pain and cramps all week. Currently in bed with a hottie on my lower abs and one on my lower back too! Really hoping I'm not too far away but also starting to feel a bit nervous about the birth!

Lalarosex · 17/08/2024 16:31

@RocketLolly1 i have heard second births are usually quicker! And oftentimes not as late! So fingers crossed for you!
I am feeling nervous about labour. It’s hard to mentally prepare for a feeling you’ve never experienced right! I have been hoping to feel some Braxton hicks to give me some idea of what to expect but have had nothing at all!

anyone else experienced no BH?

I didn't have any BH with my first. I've had them this time round but, to be honest, they're nothing like the real contractions anyway. Breathing and movement is your friend during contractions, try and breathe 'through' the contraction, don't tense up as that will make it worse. Your body grew the baby and will birth the baby. Just trust your natural instincts, you got this ❤️

Lalarosex · 17/08/2024 20:41

@LECMN thank you! I have read a hypnobirthing book so hoping that will help me through! For some reason the pushing stage seems more intimidating to me than the idea of contractions. But it’s all for a purpose!
Do you think you’ll reach your due date as you’re having some signs already?! Hopefully not long for you 🤞🏻

lastgreat · 17/08/2024 20:52

Hello 👋🏻 36+1 so a bit behind you guys! This is my third. I'm anaemic so desperately trying to sort that in the next few weeks as I'd like a home birth and can't do it unless my iron levels get up a bit!

I would certainly look at the positives of baby coming after due date, they would then by the oldest in the year rather than the very youngest. I would be doing everything possible to keep baby in 😂

RocketLolly1 · 17/08/2024 21:46

@gracem24 that was the original plan! But I'm definitely questioning my commitment to it 😁

Hey @lastgreat welcome. Have they got you on the iron tables?

@Lalarosex I have BH a lot but they don't really feel like contractions anyway. Apparently you can have BH but not feel them?

@LECMN hi 👋🏼 was your first baby early or late? Hope the hot water bottle is helping!

I honestly don't know, I went 3 days over with my first but I didn't have all these symptoms with my first and I definitely feel ready. I really gone I won't go over at least but we'll see! Hypnobirthing is excellent.

Have you heard of Dr Sara Wickham? She's, in my opinion, excellent. She's written this article about your condition. I hope it helps reassure you: https://www.sarawickham.com/research-updates/obstetric-cholestasis-who-is-really-at-risk/

She was 3 days late. The hotties are definitely helping but still so uncomfortable!

You maybe already know this but they can't stop you having a home birth. I'm having one despite the consultant trying to talk me out of it at every turn. Obviously completely depends on how you feel about it but for me the risks of being in hospital outweigh the risks of being at home (and having spoken with my homebirth midwife about it I'm reassured that, should I need to transfer, I'll be so high priority it won't actually be any different to being in hospital).

This is a great article to help make an informed decision: https://www.sarawickham.com/research-updates/is_home_birth_safe/

I hope you get the birth you want/deserve. There are various home birth groups on Facebook too which may be worth joining for some support ❤️

How's everyone getting on?

I stepped into a hole while chasing DS round the park and have done something to my back 🙄

Is anyone here harvesting colostrum? I am getting like 5 syringes a session and am wondering whether I just buy some 5ml syringes as it's getting expensive. I'm also wondering about just collecting less...but feel like the more the better?
