Hi,

I am 10 weeks pregnant and for sure would go for private C-Section most likely at Great Protland. I have read many threads in the past and still am confused so I'd greatey appreciate if someone can respond to below questions which are doing my head currently.

  1. any good consultant to recommend for Great Protland?
  2. I am considered as low risk by NHS, any point in seeing a consultant from now? obvisouly trying to reduce the cost so the later I start with them the cheaper it gets
  3. recent breakdown of costs?
  4. if going with consultants now, are the scans usually included in their packages

Much appreciated
Naz

Sorry can't help, but as a big supporter of NHS and so far having excellent care from them, why do you want to go private? I had IVF with a private clinic and it really made me value NHS. With the private clinic, I felt that they are just try to oversell everything to us and stop caring as soon as the job done/bill paid.

I had mine with Keith Duncan at the Kensington Wing at C&W and he’s since gone over to the Portland. Would definitely recommend. He does all his own scans too so I had one at every appointment for no additional charge. I didn’t get much change from 20k and my youngest is now 3.5 so it’s no doubt gone up since but the secretaries of any consultants you contact and the Portland themselves should be able to give you current pricing. The main advantage of transferring early is guaranteeing your first choice OB will be available. I don’t know what, if any discounts there will be if you swap later. I paid as a package not per appointment so I don’t think it would have made much difference.
