I am a Clinical Psychologist based in south east London, and I am currently completing further training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust.
As part of my training, I am looking to learn more about very early life and the relationship between a baby and their parents. To do this I need to* observe a baby and their parent(s), and am looking for expectant parents who might be interested in taking part.*
This would involve me visiting you and your baby for an hour a week, over the first year of their life. During the hour I will simply be present and taking an interest in seeing the baby in their environment and in their interactions with you. You would not have to do anything differently during the visit than you would normally. The baby can nap or feed and you can go about the day as you would otherwise.
Although it might seem a strange idea, many parents who have taken part in the past tend to find it a rewarding experience. They find it helpful to have someone else there who is a routine and consistent presence in their own and their baby’s life, and who shares an interest in getting to know their baby and seeing them develop.
I’m ideally looking for parents who are due to give birth between September and November 2024 and who are based in London.
If you are interested in taking part, get in touch with me ([email protected]) and we can arrange a chat to answer any questions you might have.
Thank you!
