16 weeks and no bump to speak of

At night, I seem to have a bit of a bump, but in the morning, my stomach is almost flat, just a tiny bit podgy. I'm worried that the baby isn't growing. It is my first baby so maybe I'm just taking longer to stretch

With my 1st I wasn't even showing at 20wks at my wedding lol! Now I'm on my 5th preg it's a whole different story. Long gone are my once toned stomach muscles and this time I was showing the minute I got that bfp

Enjoy it while it lasts, in a few months you'll be wondering why you were worried

slalomsuki · 16/04/2008 09:53

I went to 7 months with my first with no bump and when I told people I was expecting they all said obviuosly in a while then. DS was born at 7 months and 2 weeks and I hardly wore any maternity clothes

With numbers 2 and 3 I only had to think baby I couldn't see my feet

splodgesmum · 16/04/2008 10:55

I'm 30 weeks pg with my first and only really started showing at about 22 weeks. Try not to worry, it's very normal not to show much with the first. Now I'm huge though - where have my feet gone?!

MrsMattie · 16/04/2008 10:56

I didn't show until around 20 weeks with my first.

caramelbunny · 16/04/2008 11:48

Don't worry Jane7 you'll be as big as a house soon enough! With first pg was still in normal jeans at 18 weeks and even at 22-24 weeks could wear normal clothes with waist button undone. Am now 13 weeks and already worried at size of my belly, even thought it must be twins but scan has proved it's just slacker muscles and chocolate!

Congrats and good luck.

helenf77 · 16/04/2008 12:25

Hi, I am 27 weeks with my 1st and have only just started having to wear maternity clothes.

My bump was late arriving too, but the midwives/ sonographer etc all said it was absolutely fine and that everybody carries differently. Even though I had practically no bump the measurements of the baby were normal at my scans, which is what matters.

It's annoying that I haven't really looked properly pregnant as I want everybody to know! But the people with really big bumps seem to get bothered all the time with 'are you having twins?', 'you must be due soon' etc so it's not all bad...

popsycal · 16/04/2008 12:27

I am on my third and have no bump at nearly 17 weeks.

I lost quite a bit of weight in January when I was ill so just look like I have put a bit back on.
Don't worry

popsycal · 16/04/2008 12:28

and the weight I have put on is definitely chocolate

Totally normal with your first! I only had a small bump at 20 weeks. Still not much here at 17w with my second.

Becky77 · 16/04/2008 14:03

I didn't show properly until about 6 months although I could feel the bump from about 18 weeks... This is my first and I think also if you're tall or have a long torso i takes a lot longer to show

I still don't think it's that big a bump but then I catch my reflection in something and think... Oh God I really am pregnant!!

I'm 33 weeks now

Mizza76 · 16/04/2008 18:18

I didn't really show until 6 mos with my first. At 5 months someone told me that I look like I've lost a ton of weight...
That said, in the last three months I managed to grow absolutely enormous....

fordfiesta · 16/04/2008 18:20

Erm.... no bump until about 23/4 weeks here........ then it balloned!

AHLH · 17/04/2008 11:40

18 weeks now. Skinny at 16 weeks, clothes tight at 17, maternity jeans at 18! Girth has ballooned in a week!

BITCAT · 17/04/2008 11:47

Dont worry,i never had a bump until i was 25weeks with my first..what size dress do you take i was 8/10 before kids!
My friend didnt hardly have a bump right up until 30plus weeks and even then was tiny until giving birth and her baby wasnt small 8lb 6.
Your midwife would say so if she had concerns, it will come!

beakas · 17/04/2008 15:02

Jane, am so glad you posted this question- am 15 weeks and each morning my stomach is flat but seems to get bigger throughout the day. My hips seem to have spread though.. Apparently baby is supposed to be 11-12cm (ish)long by now- SO WHERE IS IT???!! I just want a nice bump now so people can tell.

duvetheaven · 19/04/2008 19:59

I am 20 weeks with my first and not showing much at all. Still not obvious to people until I tell them. Am quite tall and had reasonably well toned stomach muscles before pregnancy. Would like it to be a bit more obvious though!
