Progesterone

Hello ladies

I am currently 13 weeks pregnant and have been taking progesterone due to reoccurring losses. The consultant advised me to take until 12 weeks but I know some others advise 16 weeks. I rang them to ask the question as nervous about stopping and would like to know if it would make a difference etc and because they said we aren’t under their care they can advise us on anything. Has anyone else been on progesterone and when did you stop taking it and do you know any information about if it still helps after 12 weeks etc?

I’m on Cyclogest pessaries 400g 3 times a day because I’m ivf pregnancy. I had a mmc at 6 weeks last year. I’m 7 weeks and was meant to have them up until 12 weeks but after my viability scan I asked if there was anything we could do to help support the pregnancy more & they said I could take 2 400g a day from 12 weeks up to 16 weeks. I think you can speak to your midwife and check? I’m not sure who it would be to ask?

I did it up to my 16th week
however, I know others will Stop at 12 weeks. Which I believe is about the time the placenta kicks in fully!

I ended up having so much extra progesterone leftover and was tempted to carry on but it’s such a messy process I was glad to see the end of it.

@Twinkletwinklelil I am the same I have loads left! I am on week 13 now and I’ve decided to cut it to one a day and will continue until 16 weeks hopefully that’ll help with my mind set and if it does help it’s still giving my body something

I'm on one in AM one in PM and up to 16 weeks if I make it.
For recurrant losses

I was supposed to use them until 12 weeks but I didn't stop because I was scared and I had loads left but it caused irritation and I had a bleed at 13 weeks. Everything turned out okay though and my little rainbow boy was born in February.

Both mine were 12 weeks but still had some left so think it ended up closer to 13-14 weeks
