Diarrhea then constipation

I had awful liquid diarrhea for 4 days and then it turned around overnight and I've had bad constipation.

Is this normal?? I went to the GP when I was having diarrhea for 3 days and they just said if it doesn't stop come back, but now I have the opposite problem!

I don't know if it's related to pregnancy or not. I've also felt nauseous on and off which I don't know is related to the tummy problems or pregnancy.

I've felt so lousy for the last week now.

Has anyone had milk of magnesia? The pharmacist didn't know if you could take it when pregnant or not!

Any suggestions on how to sort out my tummy problems? I've hardly been eating and it's miserable...

I am 6 weeks pregnant.

Aw you poor thing! I remember this happening to me during my pregnancy too. Also diarrhoea then constipation (not the other way which would make more sense)

Hormones were responsible for a lot of my tummy problems but I also suddenly developed an intolerance to onion at 5.5mo preg which had never been a problem for me before. And onion is in everything so it took me a bit to figure it out. My ds has the same problem so I think he passed it to me in the womb.

Could it be you have eaten something that didn't affect you before? How far along are you?

Oh sorry just saw you are 6 weeks. I'm not sure my theory would apply so early in pregnancy

Oh yeah I have this now (pregnant) and with my last pregnancy too. I think the hormone just make your gut go a bit wild. Tbh the only thing I do is just keep hydrated and wait it out - I'm almost 14 weeks and it's subsiding a bit now

At 6 weeks pregnant you're more likely to have had a stomach bug causing diarrhoea for a few days and now your stomach still has some inflammation and you're constipated as a result than it being related to being pregnant.

Increase your fibre and water intake, drink some orange juice. If it persists, go back to GP.
