Pink loss

Hi, I'm currently 21DPO (maybe around 5 weeks?) and this morning following a bowel movement I've had a tinge pink on wiping, now I've just had this and there is definitely a bit of dark pink to it. Slight bit of lower abdominal discomfort. Booked for a scan next week but wanting to hear if anyone has had anything similar in the meantime.

I don't see any pink there at all, so I wouldn't be worrying just yet. Increased discharge in pregnancy is completely normal, as is a little spotting early on.

DC2023 · 10/08/2024 17:09

@meganna can you see it on the one where it's a bit darker? X

To me it honestly doesn't look pink, more yellowy green. Just keep an eye on it, but personally I got a lot of stringy and occasionally snot like discharge in pregnancy and it was always normal.

I mean this kindly but how are your anxiety levels in general? Pregnancy is a weird and wonderful journey with a multitude of weird symptoms and if you are worrying over something like this is could be a long 9 months for you...

DC2023 · 10/08/2024 17:16

It's early pregnancy anxiety I struggle with, I've had 2 ectopic pregnancies and a miscarriage so I feel like I do struggle in the first few weeks. They have been consecutive and we have been trying ever since so I just feel this will be another one to add to the list

I wouldn't be worried about anything you see in the pictures. Please try to not worry- I know it's easier said than done!!

That's so tough, I'm so sorry you've had to deal with all that.

So far what you've taken pics off looks really normal, so please try not to worry! And potentially look into taking low dose aspirin...I know a couple of people who were advised to take it after pregnancy losses and had successful pregnancies after.

DC2023 · 11/08/2024 03:34

Thank you, there is definitely a pink tinge on wiping, you can see the colour slightly in my underwear, what do you think? Thanks for your positivity! I am taking a low dose aspirin and prior to conception. Not sure if I should stop now with this loss. Xx

Adamsapple89 · 11/08/2024 13:52

I wouldn’t call this a loss it’s a tiny amount which can be normal in first trimester

No keep taking it. I wouldnt describe that as a loss. A little pinkish tinge can be normal due to hormones and implantation bleeding.

I still wouldn't be worried about this. Dishcharge can increase in the early stages anyway. Did you say you have a scan booked this week?

DC2023 · 12/08/2024 10:22

I've now got a scan this morning

How did your scan go?

DC2023 · 12/08/2024 17:47

Scan showed gestational scan no yolk sac
bloods done-hcg is 13000, progesterone is 87. So now I'm concerned thinking is it a blighted ovum. Got to go back for more bloods in 48hrs.

How many weeks are you? It may just be too early to see much.

DC2023 · 12/08/2024 17:53

@Overthebow my last period was 3rd July (so 5+5 based off dates) but I had a positive ovulation test on 19th July so could be 5 weeks?

Your very early then, you'd expect to see the gestational sac but if you're more like 5 weeks rather then 5+5 then you might not see the yolk sac yet. Are they going to rescan in a week or so?

Adamsapple89 · 12/08/2024 19:26

5 weeks is so early for a scan it’s bound to make you more anxious than anything because they can’t confirm anything

DC2023 · 12/08/2024 19:46

My mean sac diameter is 10.6mm though and I've read you should see a yolk by 8mm

You're talking mms though, it's a very tiny difference and could be down to the measurement. There's not a lot you can do at the moment unfortunately other then wait for your next scan, it could go either way.

Kay412 · 12/08/2024 20:38

Hi! I don’t think you have anything to worry about with the slight pink tinge. With regards to your scan, I have seen people on these chats and my Premom forum that have had scans around 5/6 weeks and not been able to see very much at all then gone back a week or 2 later and everything is more clear and absolutely fine. It’s very very early to see much at the 5 week mark. I sympathise with with you though, I also have massive anxieties, I am 5+4 with our ivf bubba (also our second baby) and petrified, my ivf clinic won’t scan me until 2 weeks time though (7+4) as it’s just too early to see much and a scan this early could make my anxiety worse. Hang in there and if you could get another scan around 7 weeks that would be more ideal for timing.

Kindly, I think you need to stop googling, early pregnancy is really not an exact science. Depending on the position in utero, skill of the sonographer, how full your bladder was etc, measurements being out by a few mm is so common. You're talking about a size of approximately 1cm, it's tiny! I had a scan at 7 weeks with both mine and there was a bean shaped baby with a heartbeat, but I was told both times that a scan before 6 weeks rarely shows anything to reassure.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do but wait it out, the outcome won't change depending on how much you worry about it so try and relax as hard as it is sometimes. Hopefully everything turns out well for you 😊
