37 weeks with no BH yet, does this make it more likely labour is still far away?

Might be a silly question but I’ve not had any braxton hicks and every pregnancy update says ‘you’re likely experiencing them by now’ which makes me wonder why I am not.

Is there any connection between braxton hicks and the body being ready for labour?

My concern is that I’ll end up going to 42 weeks because my uterus hasn’t even begun ‘practicing’ yet

You might not feel them. I don’t remember feeling braxton hicks for any of my 3 pregnancies. Babies still
came out.

mrsed1987 · 10/08/2024 11:44

I didn't have any with either pregnacy. Gave birth at 38 +1 and 39 +1

TheChosenTwo · 10/08/2024 11:49

I don’t recall having any. Baby number 1 was a very surprise pregnancy only discovered 7 months in so was hard to get an accurate due date. Baby came 2 weeks earlier than predicted.
Baby 2 was a few days early and baby 3 was 2 weeks late.
I don’t think the absence of BH can accurately predict when your baby will come but it will
be worth the wait!

Never had them, or at least didn’t notice them. Baby born at 41 weeks

MrsB2019x · 10/08/2024 19:22

I never got them with my baby, even when I turned up for induction at 2cm I never had anything that resembled BH/contractions until that point

Cas112 · 10/08/2024 19:23

I never had them

sel2223 · 10/08/2024 19:46

I never had them with my first pregnancy

THNG5 · 10/08/2024 19:51

4 babies; never had them.

SmushyButt · 10/08/2024 20:02

Your stomach hasn’t gone rock hard when changing position at all? Like getting up off the sofa?

MixedCouple2 · 10/08/2024 20:03

No you will have them but some women Sony feel them or notice them at all.
Mine started 35 weeks 2nd time pregnant - but I was induced at 40+12

pwblwc · 10/08/2024 20:13

I've never been sure if I've had them or not. I was having a growth scan the other day (currently 31 weeks) and the sonographer told me I was having BH during the scan. Couldn't feel them at all.

JumpinJellyfish · 10/08/2024 20:14

2 kids - never had them.
