Fatigue

Hello all

23 weeks pregnant, second pregnancy here. Struggling with fatigue- feels to me to be extreme. I have good and bad days, some days can barely move, arms difficult to lift, unable to function/ work. I also really struggle with hot flushes, dizziness, headaches. Im not normally like this pre pregnancy- very active and physically demanding job.

Had hyperemesis from 6 weeks, but became well controlled with 3x antiemetics and managed to since wean off in case medication causing fatigue, but no difference.

Had traumatic first birth and tokophobia, currently having EMDR to try help with this birth.

GP done bloods and all normal. Because of the tokophobia keep saying mental fatigue and nothing can be done. Perinatal mental health team say it isn’t fatigue due to mental illness, not anxiety/ depression and GP should investigate further.

Saw obstetrician today and really disappointing- maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought she would be more holistic. Just wanting to talk about the surgery. No examination for fatigue concerns, just said if bloods normal then nothing physical to treat and must be mental fatigue!

What do I do? I feel so exhausted and unwell and cannot function/ work. Any other causes/ ideas for the fatigue? If this just second pregnancy fatigue?

Thank you for your time

Hi OP I'm so sorry for what you're going through, that sounds so incredibly tough. I'm sorry I don't have much to offer in the way of advice but has your blood work checked your thyroid / could you ask to be seen by an endocrinologist?

Thank you for your reply. They have chexked thyroid and that was ok too. I kind of wish one of the blood results was low and that would at least explain it!

I'm sorry something hasn't come up! Just to say I have a thyroid problem and for some people it doesn't show up on blood work, only symptoms. Some people have no symptoms and a very obvious result in blood work. May be worth trying to see an endocrinologist if you can.
