Bleeding before elective section

I have a c section booked for this coming Wednesday but tonight I have experienced a small amount of bleeding (bright red when I wiped but not loads) I came in and they’ve examined me but can’t determine where the bleed is coming from. I’m not in labour.

No one can seem to tell me whether I will need to have my c section early or not and I have been left on the monitor for a while now. Has anyone had any experience of this?

Surely they need to investigate more? They shouldn't just say oh well, not sure where that's from? Are movements etc still OK? How many weeks are you? I had my elective section moved forward a bit for reduced movements

I’m 38 weeks today so will be 38+3 on my elective section. I have been here 2 hours, had an internal exam and an ultrasound but can’t find any bleed. I’m not sure what their next steps are but I’m feeling so anxious 😫

I went in because I was bleeding. They packed me off as they couldn’t find the bleeding… I had piles. We couldn’t work out why they weren’t bothered where the blood was coming from. It was all very bizarre.

I assume they know it could be a placental abruption?! They don’t show on ultrasound. I’d definitely push them - and you’re at term now so no problem to bring C section forward from development point of view.

@MiniMaxi Theyve kept me in and I’ve pretty much been on the monitor all night. What are the signs of placental abruption and how can it get diagnosed if it doesn’t show on an ultra sound? This hasn’t been mentioned to me

Is not leave till you get an answer. Tell them you want your section earlier. Good luck

They aren’t concerned as I haven’t had any more bleeding and all is ok on the scan and monitor, so looks like I’ll be sent home. I don’t know how much to push because it must have come from somewhere

Could it be a bloody show?

Have they checked if your waters have gone?

I went in to get very similar bleeding checked the day before my planned section and they said my waters had gone. I’d have had no idea otherwise but they did a swab which came back positive.

I've had bright red bleeding a couple of times and whilst they said it came from inside the uterus, i've never been given a cause.

As long as it stops and there's no pain I think they're unlikely to move the section.

With placental abruption the bleeding would usually increase and you'd have some pain.

Have they done a swab to rule out waters?

So it turns out I have an ectorpian cervix, this was missed when I had my first cervical exam somehow! Definitely not in labour so okay to have my section as planned, phew

@Posypippin sorry I missed your message earlier - glad all seems to be ok!
