Hi,

I have an anomaly scan tomorrow at 13w3d with the specialists after the result of a 50/50 chance my baby could have Down syndrome.

Could anyone please tell me what they will be looking at/looking for at the scan please?

I’m no expert but I’d expect they’ll be looking for any soft markers of Downs - some
physical features can indicate Downs Syndrome, for example absence of nasal bone, short leg measurements, some heart conditions and echogenic bowel. I’m not sure whether those things would be detectable at 13+3 but I’m sure they’ll explain it all to you tomorrow.
It’s worth noting that not all babies with Downs will have those soft markers. And conversely the presence of one or more of those soft markers doesn’t necessary mean the baby has Downs.
I hope it goes well tomorrow x
