Went for my midwife today 32 weeks and she measured my fundal height she is my normal midwife and belly has only grown 1cm in 3 weeks it's coming in at 28 weeks I'll add pics for preference.

I have growth scans anyways but now got one tomorrow at 30 weeks baby weighed 3 pound ...

How accurate are the scans and what happens if growth has slowed down ? Xx

In our trust they don't do fundal height of you are having growth scans.
I went on Wednesday for a growth scan, was told baby looked to be 7lb14.
Delivered her on Friday at 8lb.

Same at our trust. If you have scans they don't measure fundal height. With DD2 I had a scan on the Monday they said baby was 6lbs 9oz. She was born on the Tuesday at 6lbs 3ozs.

On DD1 the fundal height measurements were very inaccurate. They told me she hadn't grown since 32 weeks at 38 weeks (change of midwife). Had to have a scan the same day and all was fine x

I was having regular growth scans because of age and BMI. He was always slightly under the "recommended" growth ranges but was consistent in his growth at every scan. At my last one I was told he'd be around 6lbs 12 but came out a week early still 7lbs 11 🥰

From my experience… fundal height is a guide, but has so much room for error. In 2 pregnancies I was measuring huge (over 2 weeks ahead) in both…

Didn’t have extra scans with DS (lockdown, limited appointments) but he was born 50th centile. DD I measured a bit randomly, started growth scans at 32 weeks which steadily put her above 95th centile. Then a 37 week scan put her on 75th, estimated 7lb 4 and they booked an induction 2 days later due reduced growth. She turned up on her own will the next day at 8lb 2.

So it’s all estimates, there will often be other factors involved that decide if there’s reason for concern - fundal height and scans are indicators but neither are completely reliable on their own. Baby’s position affects things so much. I totally get the worry, there’s always something. Don’t be afraid to ask questions xx

Scans override fundal measurements so I think it’s very unusual your midwife still measured yours… I’m sure all will be well tomorrow.

Scans should be more accurate, so I wouldn't worry about the measurement. But even scans can be way off! Everyone I know has had babies that weighed nowhere near what they got told at growth scans.

So went for the growth scan baby is 3 pound 9 and on the 12th centile they have referred me to consultant I thought 12th centile is considered normal growth she said he's had a big dip since last scan he was on 35th or 34th centile my placenta and blood flow fine.
