Okay so me and my girl took multiple pregnancy test before 7/23/24 they all were negative we took one 7/23/24 and it was positive with a faint line then again on 7/26/24 with a darker line but then again today with a first response and it was negative how come ? She does have PCOS so that could be why but I’m dropping a photo of what the test looked like is this a positive or evap line ??

A positive line should be the same colour and thickness as the control line and the horizontal line in the test window.
The vertical is too thin and too grey, so I wouldn’t say that’s a positive I’m afraid.

...is that pee in the blue mug?
(No idea about the test, sorry)

Jaju2323 · 29/07/2024 18:42

Did it come up within 5 minutes ?

minnieot · 29/07/2024 19:17

Those clearblue tests are notorious for false positives although it could be that she experienced a chemical pregnancy

Jaju2323 · 29/07/2024 19:44

@ERIN32 no but we have let test sit before and they never showed up with a positive before , this the 3rd one that did that but the 3rd was darker then the first 2 and it is blue with color idk why the site made it look light

Jaju2323 · 29/07/2024 19:45

@minnieot we never got one like this before tho with a clear Blue even letting it sit out nothing ever showed and I’ve done research false positives are very rare

If you read the result after the time on the instructions then a cross will appear on the Clear Blue tests. You have to read the results straight away or within the time on the instructions otherwise it becomes a false positive.

They're unfortunately not rare with clearblue tests, or any blue dye tests for that matter, it happens all the time on here and they're notorious for it. Like I say though, it could be that she had a chemical pregnancy which can often be experienced by having positive tests followed by negative

Olika · 29/07/2024 20:00

The line is narrow so makes me think evap.

Jaju2323 · 29/07/2024 20:04

@Olika never had a extra line pop up before in the past tho

See what you mean. Contact GP they can do a blood test to check for pregnancy hormone

minnieot · 29/07/2024 20:09

Thing is, if she was pregnant, it would show on the first response test by now. Either they were evap lines, or it was a chemical pregnancy. Over a week after faint positives on clearblue tests, there would definitely be a strong line on another test

stackhead · 29/07/2024 20:21

That's an evap line. It's skinny and grey.

Olika · 29/07/2024 20:25

There are tons of threads on MN where ClearBlue test have shown evap lines and they are usually thin. Some have received several evap lines. I assume the quality of tests have gone down. If periods are late then by now all tests should show a clear line. I suppose you could try to have blood test done to know.

Tiegs · 29/07/2024 20:26

Negative the line is too thin to be a positive

Jaju2323 · 29/07/2024 20:27

The test had blue in it tho Evap lines don’t

...they do on clearblue tests, it happens time and time again. But again, she would be getting strong positives by now if she was pregnant, I'm really sorry to say

I had the same and it was a Evap line
It's a negative .
If you want to believe it's a positive then do and keep trying to test in a few days see what you get

Olika · 29/07/2024 20:33

It's about the wideness of the line. If CB is positive it's a wide line just like the control line. I think it would work better for you if you swapped to digital tests so there's no space for misunderstanding.

Peonies12 · 29/07/2024 21:09

I’d get a digital test to be certain, but that doesn’t look positive to me

Jaju2323 · 29/07/2024 21:30

Okay will but PCOS does effect test

OP posts:
minnieot · 29/07/2024 23:03

Maybe PCOS can impact testing, but if she was pregnant on the 23rd to be getting positive tests, her HCG levels would have risen enough by now to be getting strong positives on absolutely any tests. I'm not sure what answer you're looking for as you don't seem to want to believe anybody telling you anything other than what you want to hear. I'm sorry if it sounds harsh, but if you're not going to believe a negative pregnancy test, there really isn't anything anybody can tell you.
