Incontinence post partum issue!

I’m 3 months post partum and I still have an issue with leaking urine. When I stand up after having been to the toilet it keeps leaking and I need to hold a paper underneath to collect it and it sometimes leak when bending over and standing up as well, especially if the bladder is full. I thought it would be gone by now but I’m scared it might become permanent . Has anyone else experienced stress incontinence after labour and has it gotten any better at all?

Yes and it is highly likely you can improve this. You might need a referral to a physio who specialises in women's health / pelvic floor to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly.

Have you spoken to your gp about it yet? Are you doing pelvic floor exercises?

Mine didn't recover for years to be honest but I can even sneeze with no leaks now. Had long labour and a challenging first birth with an episiotomy and 3rd degree tear so it's not really a surprise my pelvic floor was wrecked.

I remember the midwife asking me to do pelvic floor exercises post birth before the epidural had even worn off.....ridiculous....it was months before I even had normal sensation down there due to the stitches and swelling.

Can't recommend a mummy MOT enough if you have the funds - you don't have to live like this and there's loads of help, the sooner you get it the better 😊
