help on the quest that is the holy grail of maternity jeans that don't fall down....

...do such jeans exist? I have tried on sooo many pairs and still no nearer finding a pair that fits. Wondering if should just give up. I'm 5 foot 5 and pre-preg was a fairly standard size 12. I've been told my bump is low- maybe why under bump ones aren't fitting well?? Has anyone found any fantastic jeans?

Oooh I had the same problem! In the last couple of months I ended up having to dump the under the bump type from Next and buy Mothercare ones with a big stretchy panel which you don't see with a longish top pulled over and are WAAAAY more comfy! I've got 3 weeks to go and am still wearing them........

Nope! But if you do find a pair - let me know! Mine are far too long, make my arse look enormously flat and wide and scratch at my hips constantly, as they slide down. Hate them.

got some good ones from H&M yesterday - I am 13wks so small bump - the jeans fit under bump with fabric band over bump iykwim - anyway they are comfortable and I think they should take me through majority of pg.

Everywhere else maternity jeans wise have been crap - I don't like the way under bump jeans ride down and as I have two small children already I do a lot of bending over etc, and don't relish mooning every time I do so it has to be over bump but so many shops have really frumpy looking jeans (I am talking about YOU Mothercare/ Dorothy Perkins etc.)

Stop going for trendy under the bump jeans and get some where the denim stops under the bump but a panel of stretchy material goes right over your bump and pretty much up to under your armpits (only kidding, not quite that far). Wear a long loose top over the jeans and no-one can see the stretchy panel.

My best ones were skinny leg ones and they ended up with frayed hems because I wasn't wearing such high heeled boots later in pregnancy and trod on the hem a lot which made them look even trendier.

Just think, dungarees used to be so popular in pregnancy before lycra strecthy panels became a solution to the problem.

I have ordered some big over bump ones from next, found under bump ones to be useless! I have a pair of black stretchy over bump trews from peacocks that are sooo comfy and rarely fall down!

Arn't they just terrible? my pregnancy has been spent taking mat jeans back to the shop and having a strop with whoever has served me! (like they care!)
The only jeans that i found and I've worn through my 1st and 2nd pregnancy which were comfy and didn't fall down were 'seven for all mankind' mat jeans. I bought mine in America cheap but Selfridges do sell them now here. Although they are expensive but I suppose worth it if you live in them through two pregnancies!!!!

Gap have started doing maternity jeans and I fine their over the bump ones stay put quite well and are awesomely comfortable.

After extensive research into this difficult topic (30 wks PG with DC2) I have concluded like many that the only ones that really stay up are over-the-bump jeans. I'm inseperable from my mamas and papas over-bump carpenters and they are still comfy and fine when crawling around after a toddler whilst heavily pregnant. (Just imagine what the fall-down type do!!) They do some nice under bump jeans that I only wear if I'm not walking far!
I found Mothercare to be crap quality and look naff, Gap midi jeans either fall straight down or are too tight for bump in later months.
Ooer- starting to rant now but I'm a jeans girl through and through and have rejected quite a few pairs along the way.

I just bought one of these as I have failed to find any nice maternity jeans. Am very happy with it as long as I am wearing a long enough top. Depends how far along you are tho I suppose- at the end of my last pregnancy I was lucky to fit into anything

I always liked the Topshop under bump ones myself. Think they stay up better when your backside starts to expand later on. Think it is trial and error though - I had one pair that I was constantly doing the pregnancy shuffle in (ie hoiking them up). Bonus is though, I'm still wearing them several months on (although actually that's not so good cos it means I still can't get into pre-preg ones - sigh).

i have found these ones from seraphine fabulous even though they are under the bump, however other people have disagreed. I think it depends on your body shape and how you carry.

under bump ones were always crapola on me

great big stretchy front panel ones from hennes were fabulous, even more comfy than sevens maternity

New Look "Hula" under bump jeans £12!- still slip a little bit but have subtle elastic in the pockets that does stretch (unlike topshop etc which hardly have any give) and are hugely adjustable. Am due in 3 weeks and my 2 pairs ?have lasted about 3 months!

you need over the bump jeans (ones with a hideous stretchy panel) That is the only way forward

Gap overbump ones are great. I am living in them. £39, which isn't too bad.

Zara ones are awesome and really cheap - £39 or £29 depending on style, very skinny or bootcut. They are low cut but have a large bump band (as sitdownplease is explaining). Sizes are a bit stingy though in the skinnies - I'd say a 12 was a L as I am usually 8-10 and take a M. But was a small in the bootcut. They are lovely denim as well.

I think it depends on your body shape, to be honest. having said that, I second all the assertions made so far that under the bump jeans are utterly useless. I always find over the bump jeans are more likely to stay up/stay put for longer.

I'm on my 4th pregnancy now and can say that the best maternity jeans I have ever had were from Mamas and Papas - really comfortable, flattering and wearable. I bought them during my third pregnancy and I'm wearing them again this time. They've really stood the test of time (and pregnancy) so far.
