Did anyone accurately guess the gender before finding out (Just for fun)

We would both be happy with either gender though I know my DH has always pictured girls so I think leans slightly more girl.

I think between us we've had about 3 dreams about our first baby being a boy. We told his parents today after a private scan (also measuring further ahead than we thought! I had dates giving about 9w+4 and we've been told 10w+2) and my MIL told us she had a dream about a month ago about a chunky little boy joining the family.

I don't really think it's possible to just know the gender from intuition or old wives' tales like the salty/sweet cravings but just curious if anyone had any kind of dream or similar that turned to be true? My friend's mum told her when she dreamed hers was a girl that it would definitely be a boy and it was!

Two weeks before I found out I was pregnant with DS my cousin told me she had a dream that I had a baby. She wouldn't tell me the gender though. Then when I found out I was pregnant I couldn't believe it. She then wrote boy on the gender prediction card (I didn't find out til he was born) so knew that's what she dreamt I had. Of course, it was a beautiful boy 😍

Me and DH wanted a girl then a boy, decided on names in 2006, girl born 2008 and we named her what we'd decided 2 years earlier; son was born 2012 and he was called that same name from 2006 lol

WinterKate · 28/07/2024 16:10

I knew from the second I fell pregnant it was a boy (I wanted a girl). I was 100% correct. Wouldn't change him for the world obviously!

Choccyp1g · 28/07/2024 16:11

About half of us did.

Elisabeth3468 · 28/07/2024 16:54

When I fell pregnant with my son I had a vivid dream of giving birth to a baby boy. I indeed did have a baby boy.
Pregnant again and intuition was very strong it's a girl and had a gender scan and it is.

Bless that's interesting you just knew though! Would you say you had gender disappointment at any stage? Congratulations on your little boy!

Shit yeah. I had dreams about a girl, lovely dreams. The only dream I had about a male, I was a baby shaker & I basically ignored/abused this baby boy. It was a horrible dream. So yes, I knew I was having a girl & I did in fact have a girl

Babynumber3xxx · 29/07/2024 00:11

I always knew I’d have a boy, so when I was pregnant it was like I just knew I was pregnant with a boy from the minute I saw the test. We went for the 16 week scan and there was no great big shock or gasp, I told the woman it was a boy before she told me! Second time round I wasn’t sure at the very start. With my son I’d been sick but not really sick, it was maybe once a day between weeks 9-12ish. Second time I was sick for the first time at 6 weeks and literally as I had my head down the toilet I went ‘this one’s a girl’ 😂 I now wonder if we’ll have a third because if we do we wouldn’t find out the gender this time but I now think I would just know because I would be able to tell which pregnancy it was most like!

Isitisit · 29/07/2024 00:15

I was convinced it was a boy and DH was convinced it was a girl. I was right!

Saschka · 29/07/2024 00:17

I “knew” as soon as I was pregnant as well.

But OP bear in mind that there is a 50/50 chance of any guess being right, so of course you are going to get a load of people saying “I knew, and I was right!”

Ask people if they “knew” but were wrong, and you’ll get a similar number of answers. In fact DH thought we were having a girl and he was wrong.

You’ll get fewer predictions from their MIL’s friend Mabel, but that’s because you only remember the ones that were correct.

MintyCedric · 29/07/2024 00:29

The first song on I heard on the radio after getting a BFP was ‘Isn’t she lovely’ by Stevie Wonder and I was convinced it was a sign we were having a girl.

DH wrote his prediction in an envelope before the 20 wk scan - but baby wasn’t cooperative and they couldn’t confirm the sex.

DD arrived two weeks late so we had a looong wait to find out that we were both correct!

Picklesjar20 · 29/07/2024 00:34

Yes I had a dream about a boy and they called him a name in my dream.

Was a boy but hubby refused the name so it's his middle name 😂

Oh my gosh that sounds awful 💐 I have also had some seriously f-ed up pregnancy dreams!

DH has only had one but (context my dad was a pretty crappy person, not in our lives since I was a teen) he dreamt I had the baby without him, called him to say it was a boy and then sounded disappointed when I said "he looks just like my dad" 😂 I was like thank you, new fear unlocked!

Yes I do agree with this! Actually of our friends who thought it was one gender (about 4 who voiced it) I think they were all wrong so I'm curious to hear people predicting it right! It's definitely more than I thought on here

I felt like I 'knew' both times. My first I had cravings for burgers and I don't usually eat them and I joked it was a boy and it was.

Second my morning sickness was much stronger and the food cravings felt very different/ the foods that helped were different, so I said I felt like it was a girl and it was.

But good chance it was just a fluke as well!

That is such an advantage! And good calls. I've heard mixed accuracy about the nausea, I've had a lot of ongoing nausea but only been sick twice which made me think maybe it is a boy 🤷🏻‍♀️ but then I know my MIL and an old colleague who were really sick throughout and had boys!

I knew every time from 6 weeks. My first was a girl and I was kind of on the fence, my second was a boy and around 6 weeks I just had a flash of "this baby is a boy", same happened with my third. With my 4th I never had that "it's a boy" feeling so I knew she was a girl.

Although with 4 pregnancies there's a 6% chance you'll guess correctly each time just through chance which isn't terrible odds. I felt so strongly that I knew though!

IcouldbutIdontwantto · 29/07/2024 05:43

I was convinced DC was a boy all the way through my pregnancy. After birth, I asked if the baby was a boy or girl, and the midwife lifted them up to me and said 'here you go'...

Me: 'it is a boy!'
Midwife 'um, no love, that's the umbilical cord - it's a girl'

Babyenroute · 29/07/2024 13:03

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and convinced he's a boy! It's crazy, I feel like I know 😂

Janey3090 · 29/07/2024 13:10

I was so certain my baby was a boy from the day I got my positive pregnancy test. I even had all the classic 'boy' signs, not much sickness, craving salty etc... I told everyone we were having a boy, and always referred to my baby as 'he'.

DH didn't believe me so to prove it we had a gender scan... turns out I was very much wrong. DD is now 18 months old! 😂💗

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 29/07/2024 13:15

I was convinced my baby was a boy since I found out I was pregnant. I can’t really explain why, though there are a lot of boys in my husband’s family so that might have had something to do with it. My baby is a boy so I was right. I’m not sure if the feeling I had was because I did instinctively know something or whether it was just a coincidence.

TheYoungestSibling · 29/07/2024 13:17

No dreams but I could tell from the scan. Three obvious "tubes" in the abdominal cavity. I was right.
