MMC - when did you test negative?

Trigger warning for anyone who may be upset about miscarriage

Hi all. I found out I was having a MMC 16 days ago. I miscarried 12 days ago resulting in a lot of blood loss which ended up in hospital.
They confirmed the pregnancy sac had passed. I had a follow up scan in EPU 3 days later and they said I still had a thick lining that needed to come away.
I was told it would be normal to bleed 7-10 days but anything longer than that is not ok and to come back. Otherwise if bleeding stopped then I was told to do a pregnancy test 3 weeks from then and if it's negative, good and if it's positive, come back and then I might need intervention.
I asked could I have that intervention now to get the problem solved sooner and was told no.

I'm 12 days post actual miscarriage now - I did a pregnancy test to see what's what and I can see a faint line but not much at all. Is that good progress? When did you get a negative test? I'm still having brown discharge but not bleeding in itself.

I did an ovulation test also and there's a 0.38 reading on Premom for that. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I thought the pregnancy line might be significantly stronger and the ovulation not so much. But I'm not experienced in any of this so I don't know 🤷‍♀️

Any guidance you could offer would be much appreciated! I just want to conclude this horrible process and move forward 🙏🏻 thank you

So sorry you've experienced this, it really is awful! I would say a faint line is definitely good progress, retest again another week. Hopefully will be completely negative and you won't need any further intervention. Take it easy and be kind to yourself during this time x

I’m so sorry for you loss 💕 when I went through this in jan, I was still testing positive at the 3 week mark so I reckon you only having a faint test now is good. I was under the fertility clinic so I know my hcg before the med was 40,000 and by 3 weeks (they had me in to check as it was still positive) it was down to 150. Unfortunately it took another 5 weeks of weekly hcg bloods to get below 10 but I think my body was maybe just slow. I had my first cycle post mmc before my hcg hit 0, about 7 weeks after the meds. I hope you are ok

Thank you so much both of you ❤️ it's an awful time as you know, but we are getting there!
Hopefully that's a good thing that the line is quite faint. It's all so unknown to me and I find it crazy how little medical attention this gets when you experience something pretty awful! Thank you

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had surgical management for all 3 of my MMCs, first two it took 2.5 weeks to test negative, third one took 3 weeks. It sounds like you should get a negative relatively soon xx

Sorry to hear about your MC. Its a vety difficult thing to go through. I had a faint preg test line at 10/11 days post MC, and had a positive ovulation test on day 13. Yours sounds very similar to mine.

Sorry for your loss, I still tested positive for 9 weeks afterwards.
I had to go for blood tests every 2 days in the final few weeks to check hcg levels were going down.
Very traumatic time.
I still had retained product even though I had the ERPC surgery

I'm sorry to hear that - it's awful how dragged out it can be. Could I ask you if you don't mind - what did your pregnancy tests look like during that time? Strong line or faint?

Thank you so much - I do hope that's the case indeed!

Sorry for your loss. I had surgical management for my MMC in March and was still having dye stealers five weeks after surgery. It took nearly 8 weeks for my tests to turn negative. I was still testing very faintly positive for two days after my first bleed at 7 weeks.

They were all faint. It was awful, as you're in limbo unsure if a new pregnancy or not.

Sadly wasn't to be

I’m sorry you are going through this @peepsypops
Within hours of finding out I was pregnant with a vv faint line I started spotting then bleeding. This lasted for 7 days so I tested again and was relieved when I got a strong line. Just hours later the bleeding got heavier and I passed clots which resulted in my MC. This lasted another 5 days and I then tested negative.
I feel like I tested negative quickly but this could’ve been because I was 5 weeks when the MC happened.
