Cyclizine - HELP

pringlesnap · 25/07/2024 19:58

I've been prescribed cyclizine earlier in the week due to debilitating 24/7 nausea from 5 weeks.

They said take 3x a days but I also only just saw that you are supposed to take dosages 8 hours apart and there were a few occasions it was more like 5 or 6.

What is the risk of taking them too close together?

How are you meant to get three doses in if you're up at 7 and asleep by 10? That's only time for 2??

Please help... very anxious I've now cause a birth defect

I'm sure I used to take it every 2 hours at my worst.

I was the exact same I was maybe even taking them closer together was completely unaware about the 8hours in between as was never mentioned and I was taking them for at least a month. All is ok with baby try not to worry (easier said than done) I did come off them as they made me extremely dizzy

They say 8 hours apart so that you can get your 3 doses spread over a 24 hour period. Otherwise you could take them at say 6am, 12pm and 6pm then have no doses available to you until the next day at 6am.
If you're finding that the nausea isn't stopping you sleeping at night then you can take them closer together, you just may find that the side effects such as drowsiness may feel more noticeable. I wouldn't take the doses sooner than the 5-6 hours apart you have been doing though. You won't cause a birth defect taking cyclizine so please don't worry about that. Hope the nausea eases up soon, it's the worst.
