HI all

Does anyone know how to calm back ache?? I'm 24 weeks now and for the last couple of weeks its been really uncomfortable......I presume we can't use the deeop heat or anything of that sort so I'm using a hot water bottle but it always seems to be worse in the morning. Was never like this before getting pregnant so it's got to be pregnancy related.

Thanks

Hiya ShellyS

Have you tried sleeping with a pillow between your knees? This works for me, I'm 28 weeks nearly and find that my back really aches first thing if I haven't done this overnight.

Thanks Minkus

I'll give that a go tonight.

Hi Shelley, I really suffer from bad back - even without being pregnant! I slipped a disc a year ago and it was agony. The only thing that helped me was the Mckenzie (sp) exercises. It stretches out your back space (a bit like Pilates) and means your muscles can relax a bit. I roll a t-shirt up at night and put it under my back or under my side if I roll over and it does help. Pillows don't work for me as it is more structural than muscular pain if that makes sense.

Try doing some gentle stretches and a relaxation CD (nearly as good as morphine for getting to sleep at night! and I have had plenty!) before bed and the t-shirt. Make sure it isn't too thick, half an inch to an inch at the most.

Hope this helps.
