How soon can you get pregnant after miscarriage?

I miscarried July 3rd and it’s now the 19th. I feel like my lines have gotten darker I wasn’t sure if it was just left over hormones or if it was a new pregnancy. I am scared we weren’t trying again yet but did have sex, the plan was to get birth control during my app next month for prevention after our first loss. Just wondering if anyone else has conceived that fast or if you think it could just be left over hormones? The lines have definitely progressed a little darker over the last three days but still faint, I took a test to see if my hgc levels had completely processed out and was shocked to see a very faint line still so re tested today and it was a little darker.

Hi Op.
I am so sorry for your loss.
I was testing positive still 5 weeks after my miscarriage. I ended up going back in for a scan to see if there was anything retained which there wasn’t. I think at about 6/7 weeks I did a digital test and that was negative and then stopped testing.
My epu said call back if I was still testing positive 3 weeks after the miscarriage so maybe if you still are next week give them a call and hopefully they will scan you? X

So sorry for your loss. When was the first time you had unprotected sex after your miscarriage?

Redrosesandsunsets · 20/07/2024 06:00

Sorry for your loss. FYI: 2 weeks after a miscarriage I got pregnant and baby went full term.

You can get pregnant immediately in theory but it’s recommended to wait and have a normal period first, so you know it’s definitely a new pregnancy. Id contact the EPU if I were you, so they can check if it’s a new pregnancy.

From your timings, if you miscarried 3rd July it would take (usually) at least 2 weeks to ovulate again, which would take you to the 17th. So there's no way you'd know if you were pregnant again now as you wouldn't have had time for an embryo to implant and produce HCG in just a couple of days. The line being a bit darker might be because you were less hydrated or your wee was more concentrated for the second test?

What's more likely is that you have HCG left in your system from the miscarriage - it can take a few weeks for this to disappear and for you to get a negative test. If you get to 3 weeks and you're still having positive tests, give the EPU a call and they will be able to check for any retained products from your pregnancy.

It is definitely possible. I had my miscarriage at the beginning on April and then got a BFP on 1st May so had gotten pregnant again without a period.

I got pregnant before a first proper period after my miscarriage. So very very soon. They couldn't date it properly as I didn't have a period / just the bleeding from miscarriage. It was a missed miscarriage and I had to take the pill to remove it. I'm now 15 weeks pregnant and praying it will be ok. I knew straight away (felt weird) but still could not believe it had happened so quick Flowers

Miscarriage on March 1st. Positive test on May 8th.

Miscarried mid October, pregnant again (went full term) in November, no period in between.

I miscarried on 7th March and had a positive test on the 24th. Now 20 weeks. It can happen very fast. We’d also planned to have a break after multiple losses so it was a big shock. Hopefully your EPU can see you quickly so you can find out whether it’s leftover hcg or a new pregnancy.

Hi, currently going through this. Waiting for tissue to pass 😢 I was 9 weeks but only measuring 5 weeks. I am assuming because of your username that you’re 40. I turned 40 couple of months ago. I have had one successful pregnancy thus far…hoping for a rainbow soon x

Sorry for your loss x I got pregnant before having a period with my mmc, I did wait for the pregnancy test to be negative before trying. Pregnancy is progressing well 🙏🏾

Did you just track ovulation?

SophieRules · 06/03/2025 18:57
