Is this normal at 5 weeks?

It has been 5 weeks since my last period. On Tuesday my hcg was 2200 and on Thursday it was 4035. Today I had a scan (exactly 5 weeks) and they could only see a gestational sac. The lady said this was normal for 5 weeks and has booked me another scan for 2 weeks time. Has this happened to anyone else? Was everything okay or should I be worried? I’ve had 2 miscarriages in the past 6 months.
thank you

I was advised not to have a scan before about 7 weeks, as there's not much to see, which causes unnecessary worry. So I think it's normal, and doesn't necessarily mean anythings wrong at this stage.

Agree with pp - there's very little to actually see at 5 weeks. My hospital doesn't do scans before 7 weeks for the same reason.

I used a fertility clinic and they don't scan until 7 weeks. Even when I went in for my 7 week scan with them they told me that it was possible that I wouldn't see the heartbeat.

They scanned me as I had a bit of spotting last week and after two previous miscarriages it sent me into a panic mode. It’s just such a horrible feeling I wish they hadn’t scanned me now! X

My friend had a scan at 5 weeks and saw the same as what you did. At 7 weeks they was a foetal pole.

I'd say it's totally normal.

Thank you! I know I’m probably over worrying but every other pregnancy experience I’ve had has been horrible! X

I had IVF and they scanned me at 6 weeks 2 days. You couldn't see much except for a tiny flash where the heart was beating. That was also the earliest they scan as said you won't see anything before 6 weeks.
