Severe bleeding 8 weeks pregnant

Hi All

8 weeks pregnant today, yesterday morning went to leave for work and suddenly felt a gush of blood. Went to toilet and realised I was bleeding extremely heavily (constant blood pouring out for 20m on toilet, then put pad on to get phone to call husband and was soaking through a pad every 5-10mins for the next hour or so. Called EPU who sent me to A&E for blood loss.
Was checked over in A&E then sent to EPU for scanning etc where they've found a haemorrhage/haemotoma/degenerate fibroid/possible twin pregnancy where one of the twins has been lost (theyre not at all sure yet) but also a viable 8wk old healthy foetus. Going for a scan in 10 days to reassess. They have said its likely I will continue to haemorrhage again as they don't know the cause but also that its 50:50 if the baby will make it due to the amount of blood lost and also the chances of the same happening again.

Just wondering if anyone has been through anything similar as can't find much online? X

I have no experience of this but couldn’t read and not comment. I can’t imagine what you’re going through I am sending you lots of love and positive wishes x

A friend went through this and the baby was fine (it had been a possible twin pregnancy too but they wouldn't confirm). I wish you well x

That should say 'couldn't confirm'

Not me but friend, lost a twin but had a healthy, full term baby. Sounds very similar to what you have been through. It seems crass to say 'try not to worry' because I'm sure the last 36 hours have been awful for you, and of course you'll worry, because it natural. But sending you a big positive hand hold.

Hi All,

Thank you for your replies! Really helpful to know similar might have happened to others to give a bit of hope, thank you so much for the solidarity too.

Day 4 and still bleeding somewhat now so feeling a bit worried but we shall see what they say in a week or so time. X
