2nd c-section, second scar??

I'm booked in for a C-section for our second baby in a few weeks. Just wondering, will I get a double scar or will they reopen the first scar 🫤. Would prefer obviously to have only one scar there!

Following as I'm in the same position!

They reopen the first scar. Weirdly mine is smaller second time around - the sewing must have been neater.

Same

In my experience, they went in exactly the same place the second time. Unfortunately I had problems with the healing so what was an almost invisible scar definitely isn't now 😩

Iloveeverycat · 18/07/2024 18:59

I have had 3 c sections open same scar

RoyalBerkshireIsHome · 18/07/2024 18:59

They cut along the previous scar. So just one scar. My doctor confirmed this before the op and it was done.

Good luck with the birth

I've had three and they've always used the original or last scar sight and mine is also much smaller than the first one.

My cousin had a section cut verticle and then a horizontal one for her second and has two scars but that is unusual.

I only had one CS but they did reuse the scar for my hysterectomy. Did a much tidier job, the original was very lobsided. To be fair to them it was an emergency, they grabbed the bed and ran to theatre, DH didn't even get to say goodbye and was convinced we were both dead. Hysterectomy was probably a bit calmer.

They try and use the original site x

snowballsintheoven · 18/07/2024 19:05

They didn't reopen mine.. I've 2 scars 🙃

Persiancouscous · 18/07/2024 19:08

Mines a mix some same scar and other parts 2 scars... just depends on how steady your surgeons hand is

Persiancouscous · 18/07/2024 19:14

Mine started off well 😂

2nd c-section, second scar??
CycleGirl20 · 18/07/2024 19:16

Thanks! Mines a bit wonky because it was almost clocking off time for them last time, so maybe they'll tidy it up this time

For my second c-section they made the incision in the same place and excised the scar tissue from my first c-section so I was left with only one scar. For my third section it was breech placenta praevia so the incision had to be made higher up than the first two and is much longer.

blameitonthesunshine · 18/07/2024 19:26

They told me they were going to go in on the same scar but then decided it was too low during the c section and made another (buggers). To be fair the first is not even visible anymore and both are below my bikini line.
