Don't bother with

bottle warmers
nappie bins put them straight outside they stink after a while no matter what you do.

travel systems , a baby under 6 months shouldn't be in a car seat for more than 1+ 1/2 to 2 hours as it is bad for their neck back etc as baby sits up to high.it also puts pressure on their chest. leave the car seat in the car.
just get a good car seat
and a good pushchair.

Throw out Gina Ford books and go with what suits you + your baby

good stuff

muslim squares

john lewis sleepsuits suits have stratch mitts on them

Dummies saved me when my son cried with colic for 4 hours a night.
might not look great but they can always go , not like sucking your thumb or hand etc

good luck with your baby
just go with the flow

Baby bath. One of the those lie-down things that you put straight in the real bath is much better.

Moses basket- just feet to foot them in their cot.

Bottle warmer- microwave all the way.

Plug-in steam steriliser- the microwave ones are much faster and take up less space.

glad of the advice about the travel system as everyone has been telling me to get one as then you don't need to wake baby up to transfer from car seat to whereever but i was thinking it can't be good for them to sleep in a car seat for very long.
also aren't they a nightmare to get in and out of the car (the car seats)
what does everyone think is the easiest car seat to get in and out as i hate faffing about for ages with seatbelts etc.

I had an autobase where the car seat clicks onto the base which stays permanently in the car. It was so easy to click in and out that I could reach across and do it from the driver's side to the passenger seat where it was as our drivewway is so narrow that I couldnt get both doors open at the same time.
This also means that you dont have to check the car seat belt each time and the baby can be carried out ready strapped in and wrapped up in a wrm blanket which wont need removing.

As an aside I also had a carrycot attachment on my buggy. This meant that I could always see my son when we were out and about and as he was prem he used it for 6 months which led to lots of smiles and interaction between us.

Muslin squares are fab. Bibs, burp cloths, a kind of anti-vomit draw sheet under baby's head when sleeping, changing mat warmer, dish cloths, bottom wiping cloths, they have so many uses!
Bumboo a complete waste, my baby's cloth bums were too big!
Night dresses much better than little sleepsuits- they last much longer and are easier for nappy changes

Just a quick note to say that I've been readng about the travel systems please please please make sure you don't use the car seat as a carrycot on the pushchair all the time as it isn't good for baby's spine they should be laying flat. Oh and unisex clothes are waste of money!

Carrycot a much better option, IMO. great for daytime sleeping downstairs and you can adjust the baby's temperature much more easily. DS was a May baby and always got too hot in the car seat, carrycot was nice and cool.
