i read somewhere in mn to do this but do you do it with disposable or washable ones?

Surely if you froze a normal one you would just have a lump of soggy mush in your knicks?! You can get special gel pads that go in the freezer for after the birth. I had one for dd, but never used it so can't say if it works or not.
