Feeling like your stomach will explode

I’m currently 19 weeks with my first baby and feeling incredibly grateful & happy, but also quite surprised by how much I’m feeling my stomach expand. I only have a small bump but some days it feels like I’m about to burst, similar to the feeling of eating way too much. Is this normal? Would love to hear if other people have experienced a similar sensation.

Yes!!! I found I'd get to this point (mine got so bad I could barely eat) and then after a week or so start to feel better - as my body adjusts to the baby's growth I guess - I'd feel ok for a few weeks, then it'd happen again, and then get better again.

My midwife said it was normal as I'm quite 'compact'.

I'm now 34 weeks and currently having another growth spurt and feeling super tight. It's more manageable now because I know in a few days it'll 'adjust' and I'll feel better again. Hang in there!

I'm the same, 19 weeks with my first too. My bump seems huge, and so tight! I'm convinced I'll split open somehow 😂

Thanks for responding @Aardbeien and @Thornberry1, it’s good to know that others have had a similar feeling. It certainly feels worse at the end of the day and if I eat too much.
