Hi,

I have Factor V Leiden and have been on aspirin and fragmin/clexane throughout my pregnancy.

I am due to go on skiing holiday (not to ski/just to hang out with friends and have a holiday) when I will be 20 weeks.

Should I be going!! Will the altitude (2000M) have an impact on the pregnancy - I won't go if it will.

I know it's an odd set of criteria but if anyone as any experience of this please do e-mail back, I'd love to hear whether it's a positive or a negative. Thanks.

I've also posted this in travel as I didn't quite know where it might get a response.

I'm FVL but only het so didn't need fragmin till after the birth - there are a few of us around.

Don't think 2000m will have any effect on either FVL or the pg, though you may find yourself getting tired / breathless quicker than normal. Make sure you keep moving on the flight as well.

TBH I think the trickiest thing will be getting the syringes through customs - make sure you have your scrip with you and maybe phone ahead to check the airline policy.
It's worth carrying a card or something saying a) you're pg and b) you're on fragmin as if you (eg) have an accident and end up in a Fr hospital they will need to know ASAP. Take your mat notes too.

Thanks Mrs Badger - the consultant I've been speaking to about this is very much 'well, there isn't really any evidence based research' so I don't know if she's telling me to go or not to go! Just wish she'd err on one side or the other, rather than making me work out the risks! Thanks for the advice re: syringes - I hadn't thought of that.

she's covering her arse - she hasn't a clue

at least she's a fan of the evidence base...
