Diarrhoea and stomach cramps in third trimester, worried about food poisoning

Hi everyone, I'm 29+5 weeks pregnant today and since last night I've had stomach cramps and been to the toilet at least 7 times with very loose stools.

I had Covid last week but feeling much better with that now so I don't think it's related.

I initially thought baby was moving less so I went into triage at about 1am and they did a ctg and all my obs and sent me home but I was still worried so spoke to an out of hours GP who said he suspects it's a bug/gastroenteritis and to just make sure I stay hydrated.

Baby has been moving fine all night and this morning so far but I'm just so scared that it could be food poisoning or something serious and it's going to impact my baby :(

I've been so scared of Covid and food poisoning my entire pregnancy and been so careful but as soon as I hit my third trimester, bam, feels like all my worst pregnancy fears are being thrown at me and I'm just really struggling and so scared for my baby

I know it's easier said then done but try not to worry too much, I've had COVID and stomach bugs in two of my pregnancies and it's caused no damage. As unpleasant as it is, stomach bugs won't have any impact on the baby, they will continue to get what they need. As long as your keeping your fluids up and keeping an eye out for signs of dehydration, you and the baby will be fine x

Hey OP. I was told stomach bugs won’t effect the baby as long as we keep drinking fluids, it’ll just pass. I won’t say don’t worry because I’ve worried for the last 38 weeks of my pregnancy but try to keep fluids down and wash it out of you x

I had horrific food poisoning in my third trimester, had to be admitted, on a drip, anti-sickness drugs, the works. I was so violently sick I thought the wretching would trigger early labour. It didn't, I perked up with fluids and bed rest and DS is now a massive 14 year old :)

Thank you all so much ❤️ I know I'm probably overreacting but I've had such bad perinatal anxiety this entire pregnancy and as soon as I started with a bad stomach my mind just went straight to listeria or ecoli or something even though I haven't eaten anything risky and I know they're incredibly rare, just so difficult not to overthink x
