12 week scan - brain abnormality

I had my 12 week scan today (I'm 13W) and the sonographer noticed that the two sides of the baby's brain weren't the same size, one side was slightly smaller than the other. Has anyone experienced this? I can't really find anything online about it other than one site which suggested this is normal, but I've been referred to a consultant.

Everything else was looking good.

It's been a while since I posted this but when I was frantically googling at the time I kept bumping into thread that never had an answer so I wanted to follow up incase anyone finds this and is in the same situation.

After my scan I was referred to a specialist but they said it was totally normal. However my daughters's head kept measuring small my whole pregnancy (around 5th centile) so there was always a reason for me to be concerned about her brain development. I had to have growth scans every two weeks to make sure it was still growing - which was really stressful

However after showing absolutely no interest in turning up herself, I was induced and she was born at 42+1 with a head at the 30th centile and is totally fine. She's 14 months now and is on track or ahead for all her milestones. Her head is probably slightly smaller than average, but she's very clever and interested in everything

That's a lovely update, @MyPinkViper - congratulations on the safe arrival of your daughter.

I have a much smaller than average head. It makes me look taller than I am and I can wear children's helmets, which is cheaper. 😂

OP lovely of you to update and so pleased everything worked out for you. All the best to you and your family. It’s so worrying when you have ante natal scans that aren’t clear. I’m sorry you didn’t get a response to your thread and thanks for updating for anyone who might search for this issue in the future.
