Induction experiences?

Can we talk about inductions. I gave birth prematurely for my first so have no idea. Doctors talking about it now for my second as I've reached 35 weeks. They said balloon first, then propess if that doesn't work. What are people's experiences with it etc?

I would prefer no epidural as I had a quick labour and recovery first time round but don't object to it if I feel I need it.

They gave me a leaflet but would prefer personal experiences

Thanks

I had an induction 10 weeks ago, I had the gels and then when that didn’t work I had the rods put in, then was in labour for 24 hours and had 6 hours on the hormone drip before baby was born.

It wasn’t as bad as I expected however I wouldn’t choose to have one again unless it was absolutely necessary. Mine lasted 2 days from going into hospital to my waters breaking and they check you and monitor baby every 2-3 hours even through the night so by the time I had to start pushing I had already had 3 nights in hospital of next to no sleep and in a lot of discomfort/pain which wasn’t ideal, I was absolutely exhausted!

Inductions do also have a higher chance of resulting in c section or intervention which was true in my case, I ended up needing an episiotomy and forceps delivery.

All of that said though if it is necessary for baby to be born healthy then it is what it is! As painful and difficult as it all was I would genuinely do it all over again tomorrow for my baby so try not to worry too much! X
