Sense of smell before Positive?

I’m not due for my period for another week and my test is negative at moment. However my sense of smell is soo heightened that it’s bringing me to tears. I can smell people in the shop behind me whilst out and about. The smell of my own feet makes me nauseous and I can smell sick etc.
i love lucozade but the thought of having one makes me feel queasy. I’ve just had a stomach bug a few days ago but have been feeling nauseous for a week already and still after recovering.
the test I took was negative but would be since I’m not due until July 9th.
whats the possibility I could have a postive? Or if I need to get my nose checked out lol

I mean, if you're having sex it might be positive. Personally my heightened sense of smell didn't kick in til the third trimester

you don’t mention sex and timing. not once.

presuming all you have had sex…. and your period not due for another week, yes you could be pregnant

trextape · 29/06/2024 12:05

my smell never effected at all

trextape · 29/06/2024 12:05

Ahh yes, we are ttc so we have been doing the deed quite regularly but also just for us. I was just wondering as my sense of smell and nausea is awfully strong for it being early on.

I had a huge fight with my partner over a carpet in out house that I insisted smelled so bad I couldn't sleep in the bedroom anymore.. he thought I completed lost my mind and we argued about it for days until we ended up ripping it up and throwing it out as I just wouldn't back down on it, it smelled foul.
I didn't know it at the time but I was pregnant, turns out this was about 4 days after conception so very very new.
So yeah, you never know...

My sense of smell
Was through the roof for the very first part of the first trimester.
Literally couldn't go in the kitchen, even the smell of the wood from inside cupboards was overpowering!

I only took a test as I was enjoying the smells coming from a nearby restaurant before remembering the restaurant was behind two sets of double doors and along a corridor from where I was sitting outside. I would have been 4 weeks.

I threw out two toothbrushes and a tube of toothpaste, convinced that they were mouldy/tainted. I couldn't open the fridge without retching and I had to walk a huge detour to avoid walking past the local fried chicken shop.

About 10 days after I first threw my toothbrush out (was convinced H had used it 🤢) I found out I was expecting, the day my period was due.

The next time this happened, I was expecting another baby - found out a week before I was due. Did not happen when I had my son, but happened with both daughters - there's a coincidence for you.

But having said that, my daughter has a very heightened sense of smell all the time. We were once in a supermarket and she said 'oh I can smell Jane'. Jane was at the checkout when we got there. She definitely does not have any discernible aroma about her.

There must be niche jobs which require this quality that she could put to good use - don't say drugs dogs.

Before I had a positive test I was convinced the shower unit was about to pop as all I could smell was that burning electrical smell. My skin was hugely sensitive too so if anyone touched my arm I nearly hit the ceiling. All milk smelt sour and I had to use water bottles because tap water smelt like bleach. Garlic became a no no very quickly! Then the test went as expected. All crossed for you OP!

My sense of smell was like that of a bloodhounds before I even thought of testing!
