Hey I know we have all googled the "is this labour /am I in labour " on mumsnet (atleast I have)
But I am in the middle of early labour and thought I'd share how I got here .
I am 42 weeks. Refused induction twice. I am due induction tommorow.. 😄
I was determined to not be induced even though the doctor said he's not happy!
But I was told by a midwife to get CLARY SAGE oil and use my birthing ball. And all I've done for 25 hours is have diffuser on and not got off my ball.
I've ha dcontant braxton hicks and in between sharp fanny daggers. My contractions started right and iregular and are not coming every half an hour for the last few hours. I've just started losing my mucus plug and I am getting back on that ball. Clary sage is not recommended before 40 weeks and will only work if your body is ready. But it keeps the contractions going x my symptoms in the last 24 hours have been
Period pains
Tightenings
Felt nausea and nearly threw up
Fanny daggers
Constant braxton hicks
Butt pressure
Then stronger and longer contractions and loss music plug.. I will update as right now it's contraction time... will update if I've managed to to avoid a 3rd induction booking! :)

Wow!! Great tips. Wishing you a beautiful birth 🌎 💪♥️

Houseplanter · 28/06/2024 21:48

Why did they want to induce you OP? Because you're 42 weeks? Or more?

They wanted to induce low papp a and large baby. But I've had children with 5 Yr gaps in between . This time around alot has changed so they class me as high risk (previous low risk pregnancies and births) but my midwife reassured me that because my last 2 children were 2 weeks over due.. it is very likely I'll be over due again. So I've trusted my body. The doctors tried to scare monger me . But I agreed that they could do expectant management (ctgs) and if I don't go into labour naturally then ill induce at 40+12 ( as i defiantely wpuldnt risk gping past that )
I also want to mention that at ctg 2 days ago it showed mild comtractions so that helped my decision to go home get on the clary sage and this birth ball x

Mind you, every 25 mins isn't classed as established labour.
I hope they speed up.

Zonder · 29/06/2024 00:05

All the best OP! Well done for avoiding induction!

tobeornottobe1 · 29/06/2024 00:06

Oooooo live birth thread! Good luck OP! 3rd baby I'm sure it'll all ramp up soon!

mum2boys1504 · 29/06/2024 03:15

Update so I managed 2 hours sleep with mild contractions still going I know I'm not in Active Labour as would NOT be able to write right now.
Just thought be nice for anyone wondering of they are in labour. I've just woken at 3 am and will update . The reason for this post is my 3rd baby has been on and off false labour for weeks but now I know it's reallt the beginning as when I laid on my side amd slept they still haven't stopped x it's long though

Oooooh very exciting!!!

positive thoughts @mum2boys1504

trust your body. Babies come on due dates, not birthdays. I’d recommend you join 10 month mommas on FB if you haven’t already.

You’ve got this!! Try to let your body relax and get those happy hormones flowing.

Velicirapitor · 29/06/2024 03:23

I’m enjoying your thread, do keep updating us. After two births that were over medically managed, I had my third without any interventions and totally drug free. I hope it’s the same for you.

mum2boys1504 · 29/06/2024 04:21

Ok I've left my bed. They are getting stronger not quite timeable yet. It's so nice to be at home it's 4am. I'm trying very hard not to wake my other dc.
I will also add that I had strep b after my last birth so I need to go in for antibiotics once I'm in active labour. Been on that birth ball and clary sage since 8 am yesterday.. these are finally ramping up :)
For anyone who is overdue of generally fed up .. I honestly thought I'd be lregnant forever. And also this important everyone should always make an informed choice. Always go with your instincts but always know the risks. And don't be afraid to ask for facts.
I was told low papp a was the reason for induction but no clear reason. Whether u choose inducting or expectant management make sure it is your informed choice.. ok pain now.. must stop typing. Wish me luck:),

Hope you're ok OP, you must be exhausted! Update when you can ♥️

JumpstartMondays · 29/06/2024 07:53

This sounds long and exhausting already for you, I thought subsequent labours were supposed to be quicker!

Good luck and wishing you a beautiful birth story 😍

tobeornottobe1 · 29/06/2024 08:20

@mum2boys1504 good luck! Baby will be in your arms today ...exciting!!

mum2boys1504 · 29/06/2024 09:08

At hospital and the longer early labour seems to have made the next part quite quick. 5 mins apart and getting stronger!!
