Anomaly Screening test

Hi ladies,

Today I've got the results of my NHS anomaly screening test:

Down syndrome 1 in 1900
Edward/Palau syndrome <1 in 5000

I'm 39 and my BMI is 27.5 (although honestly I look fine). The letter says this result is considered low chance, but I've seen other people getting better numbers and now I'm terrified.

Also I don't know how to read this:

bHCG 16.10 (mom 0.65)
NT 2.20 (mom 1.16)
PAPP-A 2839.00 (mom 0.61)

I would say your results are low enough not to worry ☺️ x

1 in 5000 is the literally the lowest you can now get

Yes but I'm worried about the other one 1 in 1900

Mine were around this. I wouldn't worry unless it was 1 in 100

Your PAPP-A is also in a good range.

I had low PAPP-A in my pregnancies, it's what helps the baby grow. I had to have extra scans and take aspirin!

Had an absolutely healthy, well grown baby ☺️

They'll let you know if your blood tests show anything abnormal x

Hey OP. My original results were 1 in 137 for all 3 syndromes. I then had a NIPT test and it come back low risk. They don’t give the exact numbers after the NIPT in my trust but anything below 1 in 150 is considered high risk.
For ease of mine you could pay for private NIPT but your numbers are fine

Your age will be the major factor. But in all seriousness, 1 in 1900 is what? A little over 0.05% chance? You regularly take chances far bigger than that (driving a car for instance) without even thinking about it. Stop thinking about it.

Hi! My chance was 1:230, which is quite a bit higher but even that is less than a 1% chance (so of one hundred babies being born from people with the same odds, maybe one will have the condition). Your numbers are low chance!
