So Fed Up Of Hyperemis

ameliaand · 26/06/2024 18:38

I am so fed up, I just want to cry. I'm 10 weeks pregnant & I have had constant sickness since 4 weeks. I feel so unwell, so poorly, so drained I just want to cry. I have a 2 and a half year old toddler & everything is hard work. I can't eat I can't sleep I'm so fed up I just want to cry. I have meds but they only help about 60% I'm still feeling sick the entire day and night and I'm still vomiting up to four times a day

That's awful. Hang on in there.

I was deeply envious of the Princess of Wales being so specially cared for in a private hospital with HE when I'd had to soldier through (full time worker) with f-all help or healthcare while also looking after another kid.

I said it's not morning sickness, it's morning noon and effing night sickness.

Blurgh.

buttercup877 · 26/06/2024 18:54

I suffered with hyperemesis with both dds. I could be sick up to 12 times a day and struggled to keep anything in.

The only thing that helped me was just trying to rest as much as I could, which is hard I know with a toddler as there is only 21 months age gap between my dds. I also was admitted to hospital for dehydration and put on a drip and found that did help me feel better than I had.

I’m hoping you find something to help make you feel better 💐

Your right people don’t understand how bad it can be, sorry I can’t give you any more advice but I never found anything else to help other than resting.

missmoosh · 26/06/2024 19:04

Don’t be afraid to go back to the doctors and ask for different meds! It took me a few before we found one that actually helped! I wish I had pushed more earlier, for a while I was on two different ones at the same time.
It is horrible and isolating, especially when people say have you tried ginger! Try to take it as easy as you can!

hobbledyhoy · 26/06/2024 19:14

If one more person told me to take ginger or use travel sickness bands I swear I would've committed murder. It's shit and I'm sorry you're in the thick of it.

Definitely go back to the dr to say you need to try other medication, they often try cyclizine etc first as it's cheaper and works for many but there is a list of medications on the pregnancy sickness support website that will allow you to be more informed, which I find always does the trick at the dr's

I don't think anything helps to be honest! Thank you for taking the time to reply

It's so isolating! & no one understands at all! I think I might have to go back to the Gp, I'm on two different ones as well but today has been truly awful all day even up to now I'm still vomiting everything back up

Only people that have been there truly understand! I might have to go back to the Gp as the two that I am on just aren't touching the sides! Today has been awful

Defo get yourself back to the GP, I am on ondansetron now which has massively helped. Although they wouldn’t give it to me until I was well into my second trimester and throwing up blood because of burst blood vessels from all the puking!

If you can take someone with you as well, to really hammer home the impact it’s having that helps. I felt like I was only listened to when my husband was there and said how bad I was! Which shouldn’t be the case but if it gets you the help you need! You will likely need more than one IV if you haven’t got it under control, I know my cousin had it and she had to go to hospital for days at a time.

Thank you I am going to contact the GP today as it's just not getting any better it actually seems to be getting worse if I am honest. Yes I took my husband the second time I went as the first time the GP just was not listening to me! So frustrating! Thank you again, I probably do need another IV as it's been a few days of keeping nothing down now! God it's grim

To be honest in this heat if you haven’t kept anything down for a couple of days I would just head straight to hospital. They did more for me than GP would 😌

Offering a virtual hand hold, I had awful HG with DD1 and I honestly thought I was going to have a mental breakdown because of it, it just seemed relentless and although I found some comfort on the threads on here, when people say it won't last forever you really don't believe it at the time. Hopefully they will give you some different meds that are more effective x

Sunsetchaser01 · 27/06/2024 20:50

It's so tough. I feel your pain. I watched TV with ad breaks so I could throw up in the ad breaks. Took meds prescribed by Dr to help with the nausea but actually made me sleep for 12 hours which was nice as I couldn't throw up whilst asleep. Try and stay calm, stress made it much worse. Take all the help you can get with your toddler, I learnt to accept that some of the stuff I ate would be back out in half an hour but I can still remember enjoying that pear 20 years on 😁. Honestly wishing you all the best, one hour at a time.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 27/06/2024 20:51

Whilst you're at the EPU tomorrow ask them to prescribe you some new medication and they will, they're normally more knowledgeable and understanding than just your regular GP. If you're 10 weeks now they should prescribe you ondansetron - ask for it - honestly it's the only medication that most people find is the only one that helps. You could also ask for Ondansetron via your IV or by injection tomorrow too to give you a head start. Or any anti-sickness meds via IV/Injection if they won't do the ondansetron

Thank you so much, I asked them for this last week & they wouldn't give it they gave me Xenova. I will speak to them today because it isn't working thank you again for taking the time to reply to me it helps when people actually understand what you are going through!
