Could really do with some advice from anyone who's been through similar or just knows!
I had a mmc at 11weeks, ending on 30th May, I had surgical management and they wanted to send everything off for testing as it was my 5th loss, so this was 3 weeks ago, I was advised to take a test after 2 weeks and check it was negative, I didn't have the funds to do so last week so I've just picked one up now and I've now stressed myself out, it looks positive to me, I don't want to tell my partner as he didn't take the recent loss well at all as we'd got to 11 weeks with no problems that we knew of until the scan, previous losses happened before 7 weeks so I don't know what to do, we've been "doing the deed" for the last week n a half so it could well be a new pregnancy but I'm really not holding hope, what do I do, do I wait a couple of days to see if the line gets stronger or do I call the epu and tell them I've had a positive test in case the procedure hadn't been complete? Just to note I've not yet had a period since the surgery, it's only been 3 weeks so I'm expecting it next week but have been told it can take up to 6 weeks to appear after the mmc
Please help 🙈

@Blob23 so sorry to hear about your MMC . I had surgical management of an ectopic a while back and tested positive for quite a long time afterwards - so it may be that the beta HCG levels haven’t returned to normal / zero yet.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I would contact your hospital to do beta HCG bloods and make sure they're in normal ranges. You'll need to have a couple of bloods done to make sure they're coming down.

You absolutely can still test positive for a while so this could be totally normal. But just in my own experience I've had a partial molar pregnancy before where the pregnancy tissue can keep growing and you need special monitoring in that case. That's actually why they have you do the test in 2 weeks. Have you heard if they've gotten the results back from the lab testing? As that would out rule molar.

But like I said it's very normal to test positive for a while and likely very normal that you are still getting this result. I'm only telling you this on the off chance, as I didn't have a clue this was a possibility for me tbh! Wishing you all the best of luck with everything

Hello, so sorry for your loss.

I had a MMC in March and it took 7.5 weeks for my tests to turn negative. The HCG hung around in my system for a very long time. EPU told me to call them at 3 weeks if my tests weren't negative. They scanned me to check for retained tissue (there wasn't any) and called me back seven days later to see whether it was negative yet. It still wasn't, so they brought me in for two HCG blood tests 48 hours apart. The numbers were going down, so they concluded it was just lingering HCG and definitely going down.

I'd say read again in 24-48 hours to see if the line gets stronger, then call your EPU either way so they can decide whether you might need further testing.
