Hello Everyone,

Im looking to connect with anyone who is a specialist in Zika virus transmission during pregnancy. The NHS understandably are not experts in this field. Perhaps someone knows of someone I can reach out to?

Thanks
Charlotte

Someone at London school of hygiene & tropical medicine, if you want an academic?

I agree with@Peonies12 someone from the NHS will be an expert on this.

Yes we have spoken to a fetal medicine obstetrician from the NHS. Just wondered if anyone else spoke to an actual zika doctor could also be globally that we could ask more to.

The paediatric infectious diseases team at st Mary's hospital Paddington could help

This was a concern in one of my pregnancies. I was in the private sector but was referred to this lady within the NHS at UCLH. I found her level of knowledge impressive and most reassuring.

I have just searched Zika and found this page, sorry to tag on but I just wondered what reassuring informations Dr Eleni gave?
we are looking to ttc but zika is still a risk for us but the evidence seems so patchy!

PitterPatter3 · 25/06/2024 22:09

@Frenchtoastie I felt reassured that she really is an expert in her field and that, if anybody had the answers, she did.

My case was very different as it was feared that my unborn baby may have contracted Zika. This was sometime ago though when Zika was a current concern and less was known about it. I know the situation is ever-evolving.

Was everything ok in the end? hope you're ok! Did the dr offer any further advice about zika virus / pregnancy?
