think you can tell the sex from a profile scan picture?

I just ask because had my 20wk scan today and the only photo we got was a profile of the face. And it looks a bit feminine.

Think you can tell? Or are we just kidding ourselves? We didn't find out so we'll be torturing ourselves for the next 19 weeks. Feeling of the day is that it's a girl, but this is subject to change rapidly...

it's literally just a pic of the face, side on, and it has my nose! (Not that a boy might not, but still.) Looks very different to DS's scan photo.

I thought mine looked like a girl from the profile - had my chin and my nose. Out popped DS five months later...

I dont go by what the baby looks like on the scan im 27wks wth my 6th baby & i go by my sickness with my dd2 & my twins i new what sex they were b4 the scan just by my sickness i did find out 4 sure the sex on my 20 wk scans & i was right in what sex i thought. with this baby we decided not to ask but by my sickness i say girl & i havnt been wrong yet.

At 12 week scan I thought that one of my twins was a boy and the other was a girl from looking at the profiles. I was right - she just had such a petite nose and mouth whereas he was a bit more bulbous!!

I knew with mine too, both times. No particular reasons, particularly with DS, but he just 'looked' like a boy.

In my scan picture my baby's face looked very feminine - and I had a very beautiful little boy. So don't think you can tell, no!

Ah. I dunno. THe suspense is killing me. I am quite likely to start listening to all the crappy old wives tales and speculating madly for the next 18 weeks. THanks for indulging me!

I did a few online old wives' tales quizes and they all came back with the same answer - will let you know in 8 weeks or so if they were right.

try that? just for fun, of course

My second DS looked a lot more feminine in his scan picture than DS1 did, and he is all boy, although did get called princess when he was a year old, so obviously a pretty boy!
