C section date if had two before?

I was just wondering if anyone knew this. If you’d had two previous c sections and due to this, heavily advised to have an elective third time round, when is it booked in for? Can it be as late as the due date and you go for another emergency if labour starts sooner? Or do they absolutely push for it being a week before? Reason being that there are no other complications other than you’ve had ‘too many’.

I've had two as well and have been recommended to have another with my third who is due in December.
My last one was an elective, done at 39 + 1. I assumed it would be the same this time but maybe it's earlier, I'd be interested to I know as well. I'm due on Christmas Eve so the earlier the better, gives me more time to recover for Christmas madness 😆

You should be fine to be close to due date. Electives are usually done in the 39+ range and thag wouldn't change if you've had 2 before. Usually not past the due date either, so you've less chance of going into labour beforehand and no mad urgency with it. Unless other things going on it shouldn't be less than 39 weeks because babies have a higher chance of NICU admission for breathing support if born by c section pre 39 weeks.

Mine was too. I think it's because you're at greater risk if you go into spontaneous labour so they do it a little bit earlier? Not 100% sure though. I am diabetic too though so not sure if that had anything to do with it.

I think it was so early because of the dangers of spontaneous labour, but that may have been specific to me - I can't really remember

1st section emergency
2nd section planned at 39 weeks
3rd section planned at 39 weeks

39 weeks seems to be protocol at my hospital. I think in both cases I was slightly over 39 weeks due to when I could choose a slot.
