Hello all,

Feeling a bit deflated …..

I am 40 weeks + 2 days, lost my mucus plug & bloody show last week and still nothing …

I now don’t have many signs at all, I was suppose to have a sweep at 40 weeks but it was a different midwife and she doesn’t offer them until 41 weeks.

I am currently waiting for my results back for a potential uti, just feel like the baby will never come!

I have been pumping, had sex, having spicy food, I did the miles circuit today and had a bit more discharge straight after so hoping it helped ?

Did anyone else feel like this and then be taken by surprise and labour just happens ? Just feeling fed up and deflated and I know I could still have another 10’days 🥲

Yep! I had 2 sweeps with nothing…my personal opinion they’re painful and ineffective, if I have another I won’t have them so please don’t feel too down about not being able to have one!

I went to 40+6 with nothing, then my hind waters broke…nothing happened so I went in and was told they were delivering baby that day, I couldn’t even go home and get a bag!

hand on in there it is rubbish but you are so close x

Hang in there. It’s rubbish but worth it (side eyes DS1 who arrived two weeks late).

I’m 41 weeks today! I haven’t lost my mucus plug or had a bloody show… I’m not convinced this baby will come! I feel your frustration

I was 17 days late with my first and even then had to be induced. Long walks, curries, sex but no effect. My advice would be to plan lots of coffees and lunches, to fill your diary and help the days pass quickly.

Good luck!

Solidarity, op, this was me 25+ years ago. I was over a week late with my 2nd enormous baby and I still remember very, very vividly how absolutely fed up I was. As it turns out, my waters suddenly broke and I actually barely made it to hospital before the baby was born. It honestly felt like a reward.

I know how that feels! I was almost 2 weeks overdue with mine and tried it all. I had 2 sweeps that did not work. Sex..spicy food, lots of walks. Baby will come when they are ready. I was booked in for an induction at exactly 2 weeks overdue (which I really did not want) and she decided to make her appearance literally the night before! So I ended up with the birth centre experience I had planned all along. Those last days are hard because they are so out of your control. There is an end in sight.

I definitely feel your pain too - all 4 of mine were late babies. 12, 14, 11 and 10 days - and the 10 was only thanks to a very kind midwife who broke my waters for me after I cried and told her I didn't want to go back home and wait to see if what I thought to be contractions got any stronger.
I had sweeps with all of them that made no difference and tried every old wives tale going to try and bring labour on. Sadly nothing worked.
I've no idea how long overdue they let go nowadays, but you surely won't have too long to wait.
Sending you best wishes for a quick and problem free delivery.
