Anxiety before 12 weeks

I have just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant. I know this is extremely early but I was just wondering how people dealt with the worry before the 12 week mark. I can’t stop thinking of the what ifs and could be’s - e.g. miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies. How are/did you deal with that?

You can book a private scan, I have one booked for 7 week mark to break up the 12 week wait. It’s hard to completely switch off but I try and keep myself busy. We are moving so that’s helped a lot!

We are moving to so hoping that takes my mind off of it! You hear more of the sad stories than positives - so I am just helping reading forums etc helps!

Please try to remember that people post on forums mainly when they need help, advice or support, so you'll always see a disproportionately high ratio of bad to good stories on here. 3/4 pregnancies are perfectly healthy, the statistics are in your favour. The other thing to remember is that there's very little you can do to influence the outcome of the pregnancy, just stay hydrated and exercise/eat well as best you can (this varies a lot depending on if you get morning sickness of course!).

I’m in the exact same position, found out yesterday I’m just over 4 weeks pregnant. I can’t stop thinking about it in a good and bad way! I don’t know how I’m going to wait for a scan at 12 weeks!

I have been speaking to people on here about it a lot today and they reminded me that this is one of the very few things our body has no control over. All you can do is try and stay healthy, take folic acid and just hope for the best! Focus on the positive what ifs x

@Hannah0198 yeah that is so true! It’s just a waiting game isn’t it!

Please remember that forums will be biased as most people will only post if they've had miscarriages, ectopic etc. You could have a private scan but I'd wait til you're 8 weeks. And remember you can't affect the outcome, and even having a scan doesn't change anything.
