Cervical smear while pregnant?

Hi All 😊
First pregnancy, I'm about 6 weeks. I had a cervical smear booked before I found out I was pregnant. I checked with the consultant who said cervical smears can be undertaken during early pregnancy. Has anyone else had this? I guess I'm just anxious because it involves prodding and poking around up there! Wondering if I should reschedule? xx

The nurses in our practice wouldn’t do it.

If you're invited for a routine smear test while you're pregnant you should tell your GP or clinic you're pregnant. You will usually be advised to reschedule the test for a date around 12 weeks after your baby is born.

I was supposed to have a smear at 8 weeks and my midwife told me absolutely no way and I would have to reschedule after I've had the baby.

Pregnancy is a contraindication to smears so it's an absolute no go.

@LikeABondVillanDipshit nailed it in one. You shouldn't be having one until at least June / July next year now.
